Poll closed for me now but I drive gas. I will look at a diesel for my future vehicle. Im thinking something along the lines of a Dodge 2500 power wagon
I think camper shells are very useful and were more useful for keeping my stuff dry and providing me with a safe place to sleep compared to hindering my ability to store large items in the bed of my truck.
If youre planning to mount a RTT go the extra mile off the start and get a 'Pro' version...
Nice progress with MiniMax, I love the 1/4 tonne trucks are making a resurgence! My old 2011 Colorado was awesome until some of the typical GM problems came on (wheel bearings every other year, tranny problems etc)
If I were to go back it would 100% be the ZR2 DMAX!
Welcome to OB, very smart idea by using the camper instead of a hotel. I bet you get way better morning views and sunsets than the guys sleeping in the hotel do.
Have fun out there!
Just about any lock can be defeated in one way or another. In my head and I reference it while talking to people about bike locks; all locks can be broken or cut, but its about not being the easiest option.
Deterence is a huge part of keeping thieves away so just by using a locking hitch pin...
I dont drive a wrangler but on my old truck there were areas either under the hood or behind the grille that were suitable for mounting a speaker. Somewhere that it wont get damaged but also not too covered so the sound isnt muffled is a fine point of balance.
Welcome to OB. Sounds like youve thought lots about your next vehicle which is awesome! I drive a 4th gen 4runner and I love it, the guys at RogueOverland have some killer Xterras so you know either way youll have aftermarket support.
Looking forward to seeing where you take your future build.
Welcome to OB, I dont know if ive seen many silverados but theres a good collection of f150s and rams that are rocking the fullsize rig that you can get some inspiration from.
Have fun out there
The goal for me is to use as little electricity while camping as possible. As of right now I wont be using anything other than the 12v cigarette lighter ports to power a gps.
Rock sliders with a step would be ideal, if youre a handy guy or have a friend with a shop they could be made or even just a small step could be welded to your frame to make it easy.
