    Muddy boots?

A cheap solution if youre getting into a tent is to use a pant hanger (with the clips on the end) and while sitting in the RTT with your feet on the ladder you can clip your boots to it and hang them from the ladder

    Best roof top tent

Im a fan of Burmis Outdoor RTTs but they are a dominant Canadian company.

Tires, what do you use on the trail?

I have General Grabber At2s and I like them a lot, pretty low road noise and much more affordable than the BFGs. I had Duratracs from goodyear before the generals and they were much more noisy and less fuel efficient. However they did great in snow and on trail. Fairly good price point for them...

What Trail Condition Do You Fear The Most?

I vote mud. The number one thing I need on trail is traction and mud throws it out the window... Not to mention it can play tricks on your vehicle and make things break or stop working correctly.

    Right of way?

I agree with everything said thus far. Uphill travel unless safety says otherwise. Hand signals are beneficial or a quick dialogue while passing driver side windows would suffice.

Favorite camping and easy off road trails.

I dont have experience in San Fran but my suggestion would be to find some free land use (in Canada we call it crown land). You could also look into National Forests in your area, I believe they allow free camping and im sure some have some dirt roads and trails you could get in to.
