New member, 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 OB Build

  • HTML tutorial
Hey everyone!

Obviously new to the page and noticed there are not very many Silverado OB builds. I recently just started working on mine and have installed a Zone Offroad 6.5in lift kit, 35in 12.50 /R20 tires with Fuel Hostage rims.

I am adding a Thule Xsporter truck bed rack for the maneuverability and versatility that Thule offers. I also see that a lot of these roof top tents can be attached to the racks, and I know to keep the bars low to increase strength and keep the center of gravity low while sleeping on them.

I wanted to know if anyone else has a build similar to mine, or if they could share things that they have done with their Silverado?

I always like watching full size truck builds. I have a 99 Silverado, though aside from the cap on the back and some decent A/Ts I haven't done much more than maintenance. There isn't much offroading in WI (unless you count winter driving) so I haven't needed to do much to it yet.

I have a 2009 Silverado crew cab with the 6.5 inch Zone lift and 35 inch Toyo’s with Red Dirt Road wheels. I originally planned on it just being a nice big truck, but as my family is growing, I’ve decided to focus on building it as more of an expedition type vehicle. Not a whole lot of full sized rigs out there, so I’m often looking for ideas as well.

Good looking Rig man, I currently only have a 2.5" level and still sitting on 31'"s. Would love to pick your brain about fitting 35"s on a chevy.

Welcome to OB, I dont know if ive seen many silverados but theres a good collection of f150s and rams that are rocking the fullsize rig that you can get some inspiration from.

Have fun out there

I’ve got a 2” level on mine. Still have tbe stock tires for now. Have a RTT on a thule rack.
hey! good stuff man! How do you like the thule rack? do you ever raise and lower it much? I almost went this route but I wasnt sure if it would be easy to adjust height while the tent is up there.

Mines a 2013 and personally I had to solve the clearance issue up front. These trucks hang so low stock in the front a bumper and winch had to be the first step for me. Perhaps not as necessary for you, w that kit and tires
