Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
That makes it nice. We live right on the path of this one. Traffic here is a mess now, though. We had planned on not going anywhere today, but Rhonda is making BBQ sauce, and realized she forgot an ingredient. Took her 45 minutes to go 7 miles into town.
Been wearing the Wolverine Wilderness hiking boot for a couple months now. I've worn Wolverines for work for years, and decided to give these a try. They're very comfortable, after about a week of break-in (which seems to be the norm for Wolverines of any style).

It's currently 24 pages long, with plenty of photos. You might find some interesting ideas there.
Also, though I'm certainly no engineer, that seems like an awful lot of potential failure points. I wouldn't trust this to not drop my rig on my face while I was under it.

I am loving this thread. We have a 6 day trip coming up in September, so I hope to have some things to contribute here upon our return. In the meantime, some of the things reviewed here have got me considering adding to or changing our kit a bit.
I grew up in Klamath Falls, and used to go to the Lava Beds once or twice a year. Loved all the exploring I could do underground. Haven't been there since I was in college, so I guess it's about time I go back.
I have an extra plano box on my roof rack. Trash goes in plastic yard bag, bag goes in box. When I get to a garbage can or dumpster that I can use, out it goes.
