    Stolen Overland Vehicle

He said it was stolen near SEA-TAC, that is between Seattle and Tacoma in Washington State. So, its not likely is Hawaii. I live on the East side of Washington, lots of Overland rigs come through here, I will keep my eyes open.

    Miles per gallon lost

I drive a 3/4 ton Suburban (1990) and it got 11 MPG when I got it, with all my mods, all my gear etc, I get 11 MPG. However, I pulled out all the seats to the tune of about 300lbs and all my gear added back is probably less than 300lbs. So, no change and I can still haul my 30ft travel trailer.

    General Motors Owners Registry

I also love the GM Trucks. Mine is a classic 1990 GMC Suburban, 350cid, THM400, 3/4 ton 4x4. Hiden front winch, rear G80 Locker, CB,GMRS, HAM, full interior build, tons of home made mods, lights, etc. Too much to list out.

$900 1980 Ford F250 - Budget Build - The best overlander is the one you have

If you are new to carburetor tuning and fiddling, I would go with the Edelbrock Performer 1404 (Carter AFB). These carbs have been around for 50+ years, they are simple, no side hung bowls that want to leak, easy to tune, etc. Are there better "High Performance" carbs out there, yes, but this...

    Lake Destinations in WA

As for lakes near you, it depends on how big and how hard t get to you want. Cle Elum Lake, Kachess Lake, Keechelus lake, Lost Lake and Mirror Lake are all close and listed from easy to more remote. Ceder Notch is small and even more remote. Bumping lake and Rimrock lake are a little farther...

    DIY Molle/PSD Panel

I did something like that, but with 1/4in ABS. I drew it up and then had them cut out on a Water Jet. I have offered to do this for other people, but so far nobody has had any interest. I designed these for my 90 Suburban as there is nothing out there for them.

Looking for info on Foresters, lift, tire size, etc.

Well that poor little SF scattered the engine somewhere in central California. I had to leave it at the tow truck company and rent a car to get to L.A.. So, I had to get a new car and decided that I would rather put my money into the Suburban and not spread my budget between 2 vehicles. So, I...

    Cancelled Mt Hood trails

Sounds like a great trip, wish I could go. Too short of notice, my weekend is already booked. I won’t even get back from San Jose till Friday. My wife would kill me.

Thanks to everyone that was on this trip. I hated that we had to bail out after 3 days. Rachel is doing better, but the stupid insurance company canceled her surgery the day before it was scheduled and said she needs to do physical therapy for 6 weeks first. As for the Suburban, not damage, but...

    Tire size opinions wanted

I never recommend going over the rated GVWR. That is one reason I drive a 3/4 ton Suburban. I have lots of room when it comes to GVWR. I am the one that said, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Change one thing and it starts a cascade effect. Add “stuff” now you need to upgrade...

    Tire size opinions wanted

Just wondering why you want to increase the tire size? I know you are not going up much, but it looks like your truck is already very loaded, with stuff on the roof too. All of this put stress on the drive-train. The Toyota V6 is no powerhouse to begin with and going up in size is only going to...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Well, I didn't do it all today, but finished a bunch of it up yesterday and Today. Installed my hidden winch in the bumper, well behind it. Added a step to get in and out. This will be removed on the trail. I also hung an Army duffel bag on the back as a budget "Trasheroo" I needed an Awning...

I have been working like crazy to finish all the last minute things to be ready. I think I am there. Packing today and just food in the morning. See you all there. We will leave early in the morning to meet you there by 8:00am

Thank you, it is my dream truck. I searched for one for a while and even had one that was just not right and sold it. I have thought about going Diesel, but while the gas engine consumes more fuel, Gas is cheaper and the gas is cheaper to work on and upgrade. That and the engine in my truck is a...

I am in a 3/4 Ton Suburban with 10 ply AT's. Airing down is not an option for me, I have to or I risk losing all my teeth. I have been down these roads and even the "smooth" gravel roads are harsh. Street pressure for my truck is 75 rear 45 front. Like having wagon wheels.

I would not worry too much about going 4 miles. I think the speed limit is 35, but even at 55 that short of distance will not cause any issues. I would not do 70 or go 20+ miles at that pressure though.

I have been dreaming about a trip to Deadhorse for many years. If you were to drive up and take the ferry back, what kind of time would you need for this? It is sounding like 3-4 weeks, is this right? Or would it be longer? For me to be able to take that much time off of work all at once would...

Thanks for the heads up. I don't know about the rest of the group, but I am never looking for the easy way. To me the challenge is part of the fun. Because we are going as a group, I will always submit to the desire of the group/leaders, but if given a choice, I say we stick to the official...

What changes to your rig did you like the least?

For me it is the platform in my Suburban. I don't regret the platform, but I am still making adjustments to get it right. It was too long and I cut it down to fit a cooler in the back. I then had to make it wider to fit a larger mattress. I did have solar on my Suburban and used it one trip...
