As of this week my family now owns 3 Subaru Foresters. I bought my wife a brand new 2019 Forester and my daughter bought herself a 2019 Forester. My daughter had a 2001 Forester and it is now my car.
I still have my 90 Suburban, but my job is changing and I am going back to traveling a lot again and need something with better mileage. So, the Suburban stays, but is being used less and the Forester is becoming my daily driver/Airport car.

I can't leave it alone, it needs to be lifted and outfited for Overland style use. I have looked into lift kits and there are a ton of options, but I think I want to stay around 1in so I don't have too much stress on the CV's.
Current tires are 205/70-15 and are 26in, the tire I want to go with is a 235/75-15 and it will be 28in.
I am thinking that I should be OK going 2in over stock and a 1in lift kit. Any thoughts? I know I may need to trim a little and may need spacers, but I can figure all that out in time.
I know lifting and adding bigger tires will drop my gas mileage, but even if it drops from 25 down to 20 I am still double the 10 I get in my Suburban, so its all good.
Please give me your thoughts on this.

After a little digging and trolling the Forester Forums I think I may want to go with either a 215/70-15 or 225/70-15. They seem to be a little bigger and not require any trimming or huge lift.
In these sizes I can get the General Grabber AT 2 or the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015
Any opinions on what would be better? I get a fair bit of snow where I am at and the snow plows don't reach my area. I also live up a 1000 foot long steep driveway.

Look into the cooper atw3 4s , had a set on my subi , quite quiet and handled winter like a champ .
You can squeeze a 235 if you get the right rims and aren’t afraid of massaging of the inner fender well with a sledge .

Keep your tire/wheel combo light and your mpg won’t suffer as much . 181BFD2F-15F4-493F-895D-908DAF536800.jpeg

Thanks. I have been doing a lot of research and thinking. I need this car to run to the Airport about 100 miles away every week. So, it is better on gas than my Suburban. However this car has 190K on it and I think I may just do some minor mods that I can transfer to another Forester (SG,SH, SJ), something newer with lower miles. I really like the 2010 era and would love to find a XT Turbo.
I want to make it capable of light trail running and overnight/weekend camping. However I still need to keep it capable for driving to the airport and in the snow we get in the winter.
For now I will do a few things to this SF and save my money for a newer one. At least with the tires, if I go with some bigger/better ones I can swap them over to a newer Forester. I plan to make my own 1.5in lift kit.

Well that poor little SF scattered the engine somewhere in central California. I had to leave it at the tow truck company and rent a car to get to L.A..
So, I had to get a new car and decided that I would rather put my money into the Suburban and not spread my budget between 2 vehicles. So, I bought a 2009 Lincoln Town Car to drive to work/Airport and save my money for the Suburban.
