Trading my old Suburban for a Newer Suburban

Yes, you most certainly can. They make great Overland Adventure rigs. The GMT400,800,900etc. are very capable platforms. While the IFS is not a great rock crawling suspension, it give a much smoother ride for the kinds of road we are traveling. Also take a look at SubOverland. He has a web site...

What your thoughts on a cable winch puller

I have had to use a HiLift Jack to recover a Jeep XJ, I can tell you it is possible, but I was younger and it was no fun then. It worked, but took a long time and I had to stop to rest several times. A lot of work. I still have the jack, but rarely use it. I have a 13K electric winch now.

Thanks, I have been over there since I got it, actually a little before asking questions. I have seen you there. BTW, I was Air Force also, what did you do? (AFSC)

As for your first question, I would think morning of day 3.

Anyone interested in the Washington BCDR in June or July?

I’m just not too interested in doing that all again. Let’s just say, been there, done that.

    Leads on Centurion C250/350?

These are very rare. I have seen a few, but probably less than 5 in my life. Best bet will be to look in Texas as they were the most popular there. In good shape they will not be cheap. I have always been a Suburban fan, but these are very cool too. The removable top is a great addition. Good...

Trading my old Suburban for a Newer Suburban

I have always been a fan of the Square Body Suburban and trucks. So, I was thrilled a few years ago when I got a 1990 GMC 2500 Suburban. I have used it on a few trips and it worked great. However, as time has gone on I have come to see that it really does not work as well for me as I would like...

Anyone interested in the Washington BCDR in June or July?

We did this last year, but My wife was in a lot of pain and I had to quit 3 days in. I would like to try this again this year and looking for other to go along. My plan will be the same as last year, however this year I want to avoid deep muddy section near Bethel Ridge, just use the bypass. We...

Aftermarket stereo that works with Gaia?

Thank you everyone. With limited space in newer vehicles it is nice to have one device that has multiple functions.

Aftermarket stereo that works with Gaia?

Has anyone found a stereo that allows you to view Gaia on the dash? Maybe something that works through Apply Play? With the limited space it would be nice to be able to link the Gaia maps to a in-dash system. Does it exist?

    Yukon XL

I am selling my 1990 Suburban and just got a 2008 Suburban (both 2500s). I would love to see more pictures of your set-up, kitchen box, sleeping set-up, etc. What worked in my old Sub, does not fit/work the same in my new one.

    Ram Cummins broke down.

I used to hit my 2003 with ether when the injectors were going bad. Had to do this every day to get it started. However this was only short term and not the best practice, but I needed to get to work to earn money to buy new injectors. 2019, that should still be under warranty?

    HMMWV GMV Build

The Military version completely lacks any creature comforts, none at all. The seats are a horse hair pad, no carpet, no insulation, no radio, no padded anything, no soft surfaces. Getting one into a standard parking spot at the mall or any other store will be a joy, LOUD, stinky, and the list...

    Ram Cummins broke down.

What year Ram? What Cummins? There is a lot is difference between a 1996 and a 2021. Like, a bit of starting fluid in the older ones can help diagnose and maybe get it running, but the newer ones it will do really bad things. So, we need to know more.

An argument against Roof Top Tents

This was one of the big factors I looked at when I thought about what rig to get. In the end for me the RTT was a no-go due to the ladder, cost and I have dogs. My wife does not like ground tents, so for me the only option was to get a rig I could sleep in the back of. The list of vehicles that...

    DIY Molle/PSD Panel

No, I have not weighed it, but it is ABS plastic, so both panels under 1 pound. What you put in the bags is going to be way more of an issue than the panels that hold them. Even if made out of Aluminum, panels like mine might be 1-1.5lbs each. 1/8th in Aluminum would be strong enough for...

    Airing Down Nitrogen Filled Tires

I used to work in a major chain tire shop years ago. The "Advantage" was a few things. Stable pressure and no Oxygen. The Oxygen and the moisture that you can get with it breaks down the rubber on the inside of the tire. However, UV light and normal road conditions break down the outside of your...

    Who are you voting for?

I think both will survive a nuclear melt down and cause heart disease, so Is there really a "winner"? However after a SHTF event, I would be really happy to have a bunch of Spam around as opposed to going hungry. And rice.
