US East Running the Trans America Trail (TAT) from WV to the OR coast

I'm just seeing this group/thread for the first time, and while I cannot start the group, as it gets closer to "the time," I will have some time to drive and meet up if possible. I have a 1999 Isuzu Amigo. By departure date, the entire vehicle will have been refreshed, and much has been done...

Orange the 1999 Amigo: here we go

Not sure which lights you meant, but those big round ones light up the back roads really well, and I took the frames off and painted them the same color as the body, and that ties in nicely.

Orange the 1999 Amigo: here we go

I generally agree. It's creaky, though that will improve as I search out the bushings and what not. 200k miles will do that to ya, though

Orange the 1999 Amigo: here we go

More update fun. Had more unsexy things done, like tranny fluid change, ditto for power steering fluid. Oil change, stuff like that. I have a steering wheel shake/shudder/clunk I am unhappy about and it's not fixed or resolved, so that's got to get done. I am remiss in discussing the lighting...

Orange the 1999 Amigo: here we go

So, it's been some time since I updated. There's more to do as I slowly get it ready for the spring and summer fun. Here's the current update for how she looks: Sorting out the electrical has been a bit of a pain, especially as I got a new battery with dual terminals...only for it to last...

Orange the 1999 Amigo: here we go

So far! Lots of little details to do, but it is legal for sure!

Orange the 1999 Amigo: here we go

Been a little bit since I posted last. Lots has been done. Bumpers have been finished, and installed...along with the winch. I have to reinstall the skid plate in the front, but I have to play a bit more with the winch anyway. Also, the lift is on and done. I do think I need to crank the front...

Question wiring lights to Rough Country switch controller

I'm sorry that I didn't come back to reply. I solved the problem. I tested the lights as is, and had a bit of a flicker. I didn't trust my connectors (soldering, shrink wrapping) so I cut it all, and then tested each light to make sure they worked. They did. This time, I got a good crimper, and...

Hey PA guy looking for trails

I'm going to try to get out and cause trouble in the oil roads near Warren this weekend. Nothing wild but I want to see how the rig handles now that she's back and legal.

Question wiring lights to Rough Country switch controller

I'm actually both a) out of town right now and b) waiting for the rig to get legal at the shop, with a fresh inspection. I have gotten no further with this since the original post, and cannot post pics but will be able to do so in a couple of days. I simply ran straight wires from the lights...

Question wiring lights to Rough Country switch controller

I did hear that click, a couple of times, so I agree...I think it's "working" as intended. Your first question might be the whole problem. I would assume that when you wire lights, I want them to run off of one switch, not one switch per light. I'll put a picture below of what they look like...

Question wiring lights to Rough Country switch controller

Good morning! So, I have one of the Rough Country switch controllers, and although it's been in for a while (and gets power), only yesterday did I begin to hook it up. I attempted to wire two Nilight 51w floods to it. The switch panel has a fuse and relay already as a part of the line, so I...

Orange the 1999 Amigo: here we go

Ok, so let's first talk about the bumpers. These came originally from my last rig, a Daihatsu Rocky. Loved that little rig, but the company did a Sh*t job engineering the engine, and you will always find them for sale with bad head gaskets or some related cooling issues. This is "a thing." I did...

Orange the 1999 Amigo: here we go

OK, so lots of pictures and updates and things coming this week: new coils and other stuff on for the lift, and the bumpers are on, too. Better pictures coming in better light!

    Future NY Meet-ups

I can't speak to the unemployment thing. I can, though, speak to that first day camping. PA State Park, and most sites had NY plates. NY was not they open at that time.

    Future NY Meet-ups

Did some early PA camping (like, the 2nd night that you could actually camp in a state park in PA) and it was nice. I chose "non-pet" and it was very quiet. I have heard that as everyone wants out of their houses, there's more noise, more music being played, less distancing, so on. I believe...

Orange the 1999 Amigo: here we go

I have lots of little upgrades I can post about, but what's most important is that it's now legal, and on the road! and...a little off the road, as you can see. Without any recovery gear, I didn't want to mess around too hard, and I heard some noises to address...but she's legal!

Need help wiring a panel, please

I heard back from Blueseas. They prefer that to be a negative wire off the battery as opposed to a body ground at that location...though multiple people told me ground. I wired it direct to the battery (tested it on a battery I have aside and it worked) and it seemed to be fine. As my wiring...
