Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
This was posted to the Reno 4x4 forum. Looks like fun.

Mammoth Adventure Sept 16-18
The off road Mammoth trip is a little different than some of the other off road trips we’ve done. We like to call it an off road...
Yeah, that's a good point.
They say this is more of an all purpose rescue tool, not necessarily for digging soft ground. Though, digging near or under a truck makes a short handle shovel advantageous. Something like this is a decent, though expensive, and overkill, compromise.

Exactly what I thought. Even with an auto, you'd think you wouldn't get going that fast. Although, most manual transmissions on trucks like that regularly pop out of gear, so that could have happened...
Scary. I have anxiety dreams about loosing brakes.

We didn't do any driving that weekend, but we did do the Thunder Mountain trail on bicycles. That was hell of a climb!
I will check out the red lake trail for sure some time. Carson Pass area is our new favorite. So close to home and so much to do!

I also mapped in the Ludwig Ghost Town Trail, #27. Also, the Bluestone Mine Trail shortcuts from Ludwig back to Yerington.

They have IFS, though for 90% of off overloading, and a lot of 4x4ing that's not as big a liability as generally assumed.

TL:DR The Super Shovel is a little better for digging in some media, way better for digging in others, far more useful for zombie killing and general destruction and far more bad ass looking than a standard shovel. Skip to the end for a video demo and comparison to a regular shovel.
