Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
With my boys as young as they are I don't bring any when we are out camping or traveling. I don't feel I need any protection other than being alert and aware.
I do enjoy plinking and shooting though and when my boys are older I'll introduce them to it. In Nevada, it's pretty easy to cary. But...
I also really like REI Tents. For backpacking or when there is only two of us (which is never) I use our REI Quarter Dome 3. Light, roomy and bombproof.
For the family the REI Kingdom 6 has been going strong for 5 years.
It's big, I can stand up in it. Dog sleeps in the vestibule. Two BIG...
Last year we got Exped MegaMat pads. They are 30 inches wide, 4 inches thick and roll down to a reasonable size. They self inflate (in 10 minutes or so) and you just have to pump them a bit for full inflation. There are valves for inflation and deflation so no fancy hand work is required...
Going through this list and following you guys.
Here's my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegizzardstone/
It's mostly family overlanding, camping and goofing off with the kids, mostly outside.

I was subscribed to some of you guys. Just subscribed to the rest.
My channel is a family overlanding channel. Latest is a 3 part series on our Death Valley Adventure. 2 4Runners, 4 adults, 3 kids, 2 dogs. It was RAD! Here's episode 1
I've also been doing some video blogging, even though I...
I have a family overlanding, camping, adventure and, uhhh, other stuff channel. Link in my signature.
Instagram is: https://www.instagram.com/thegizzardstone/
Would appreciate a follow! I have nearly enough subscribers/followers to move from "completely insignificant" to "mostly unknown."

Love it!
That corrugated plastic should be durable enough long term.
For the paper towels, maybe just a bungie cord would work well enough.
I need something like this for the same reasons you mentioned. I recently ordered a couple Squish brand bowls and a colander. It's nice to have a big...
It is technically closed now. and signed as such. There was some wrong info posted, and we went up and started in. A ranger came and put a sign up behind us and we continued on. I believe if you go out and back from Ebbetts that is OK. It's only closed through the meadow on the Blue Lakes side...
Yeah, I don't want to get too negative with my videos, but that would probably generate some conversation. We'll see...
The only thing an RTT has over a ground tent is quick setup. And that's only if you don't use one of the extra enclosures. And since setting up our tent is a kind of...
Wow! You did that in a Subaru!!?!?! Dang!
I'd like to see that.
As for camera angles, I use a number of GoPro angles in my videos. I like to keep switching it. Off to one side of the windshield is good. But You need a solid mount for fast washboard roads, for crawling a suction mount like...
First date with my now wife in high school we went out in my jeep and were splashing through puddles and driving around this area near Bakersfield, CA called Hanglider Hill. It might be all subdivisions now, not sure. Anyway, I did not know about distributor caps at the time and it got wet and...
Yeah, the roof top tent thing doesn't make sense to me. So heavy, so expensive, so on-top-of-the-car. If I was doing an extended overland trip at low speeds spending the night some place different every day, maybe. But even then I think I'd opt for a ground tent for the privacy and the ability...
Greetings!
We are going to camp out near Kirkwood, Silver Lake to be exact, next weekend. Was wondering if anyone had and trail recommendations in that area?
We are going to do a relaxing day at camp and The Tubs (a pretty epic rock slide rock jump rock pool area on the creek there) with the...
Check these guys out. Found them on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/earthexplorationtechnologies/
They are tricking out old Aerator trailers.
Not sure what the point of such an extreme suspension is on a trailer, but they look bad ass. Except for the RTT.

Yeah, the tiny tires are too tiny for proper overlanding trips, and I have a second set of 4Runner wheels/tires. So I don't have to buy them. Plus it'll look totally bad ass. And I'm sure the only thing that you can't argue about on an internet forum is that bigger tires = more bad ass.
