Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I have looked into Timbren and torsion. Timbren is too spendy for now and Torsion won't let me run a 6 lug on a 2000# without spacers. I figure leafs are good enough and bomb proof.
I don't thing independent suspension on a trailer is all that important anyway. With only three point of...
May have found a good source for axle, hubs and springs.

Looks like I can get axle, hubs, brakes, and springs for $219. That's a pretty good deal! I can probably remove one leaf from the pack to de-rate them a bit.

Do they still have the two speed in Australia? I know you could get that here in the Loyal, but not anything newer. Gearing really is the biggest limitation of a Subaru.

I've been wanting to check out Poker Flat. It's part of the Plumas BDT. It looks like it is a 1 hour windy road drive from Downieville to Poker Flat and then the trail is from there to LaPorte.
Also want to do Signal Peak some time.

Actually, the need for the 3500# axle stems from wanting to use 6x5.5 wheels without a spacer or adaptor. I've found that you can't get that with the lighter axle. I don't intent to haul more than 200# with it at most.

It doesn't look "built" It looks capable, and like a good overlander... Jeeps are funny how you have to get ridiculous to make them look rad. My 4Runner looks pumped on 32s...
I'll have some video of him...
I have an old Aerotow Trailer that my parents bought for camping when I was a kid. I inherited it when they didn't want it. Been using it for camping with the family this summer. It's super handy to have, and has seen a lot of dirt road miles. One spot we used to camp along the Kern River had...
Fire Stick. And I have a spring under it, but I followed the mounting instructions for that. Think that might be it?
I am going to get an SWR meter and tune it.

I'm going to get an APRS mobile HAM radio eventually. Just because I think it's neato. A Spot might be good to have as well. We do a bunch of remote overlanding with kids, so it could potentially save the day.

Here it is set up for an overlanding trip to Death Valley with 2 adults and 2 kids and 1 dog for 3 nights 4 days.
1999 4Runner SR5 5 speed with factory e-locker.
That's pretty rad. I drove a Subaru for a lot of years and never did all that to it! Lots of dirt road miles though.
How is the gearing on that? I always felt like I never had low enough gears on my 2003 5 speed.
