  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

    Aftermarket Thermometer?

Xterras have a wet box/gear bin on the roof, I'm thinking I could mount it in there. That way, it'll stay out of the rain. I'll pick one up this weekend, run it for a week or so, and let you know how it works out.

No, I haven't. I even have one of those, lol. Interesting idea, I'll check it out.

    Aftermarket Thermometer?

I've been looking for a decent thermometer for outside temps to mount in my rig. I'm running into two problems: A) most search results are cheap junk, and 2) the sensor leads are typically so short that the sensor has to be mounted in a place in which engine temperature or ambient heat from...

What keeps you from overlanding more?

Time and money. Wife has a new job, and our schedules are no longer perfectly aligned like they were. Her schedule is different every week, and isn't released until Thursday, so we never know until then what the weekend is looking like. I suspect I may end up going on some shorter day or...

@TerryD I modified a Harbor Freight cargo carrier for mine, based more or less off of this how-to. The square tubing is 3/4". If you're using 1" for the legs, I don't believe they'll fit into the cargo rails (assuming that's what you're planning).

    Oerland to Overland Expo

Too early yet for me to be able to commit to anything, but that would be an interesting trip. Just the section taking me from where I am to Topaz Lake would bring me through areas I've either never been, or haven't been to for a very long time. It will be January or February before I can give...

Finally put the map of the USA on my hood

That's a really cool idea. Maybe you could have someone make up some green (or whatever) check marks or something like that.

    ARB Front Bumper?

My wife has a 2002 Jeep Wrangler, and she likes the ARB winch bumper. I'm concerned that the recovery points look a bit thin. I've noticed that some ARB bumpers are thin like this, while others look thicker. I'm looking for feedback from people who have experience with the thin ones. Doesn't...
