congrats on the new RAM... i am also in agreement on FORD and the Bronco. The Rebel is awesome.. Did you get the rambox?
I looked hard at the Rebel with a rambox before I decided to just rebuild my 100 series land cruiser. for me .. it came down to A.. not wanting a compromise truck (the...
70 degrees yesterday... 34 degrees and freezing rain today. guess saturday is suppose to be in the 60's again. working outdoors on cars in winter.. texas style. Make no definite plans... be flexible... and expect to sweat and freeze.
goodbye 2020.. and good riddance.
My plan is to rhino-line them with a heavy texture on top so I needed to knock a few of the welds down to get a smoother finish after texture. the bottoms of sliders will all have a thicker .. but smoother rhino coat. The LC it's self if rhino lined so.. it will tie together better. I HOPE.
well... finally got the sliders roughed in and in primer. after 20 some-odd years of not welding. its finally starting to come back to me and my final welds were coming in as unevenly stacked dimes (that's all pace --- was listening to different music.. lol). after the rain / snow passes...
i've heard ALOT of bad things about the 2.8 Cummins. but you could drop a Toyota d4d and a sixspeed into it pretty easy.
as far as when.. I have the 1500.00 rule. if the total cost of work on engine or trans is past that. I look at a repower
Exactly the point I keep trying to get into people's heads. go out and TRY to find a as capable platform as the 80 or 100/105 series LC. Honestly, you can't. I looked at the new defender 100.. and like it. but started doing the math. all up a new defender with all the kit will go past...
Started welding the rock slider kit today. one side roughed in.. the second about 50 percent.
next the rear bumper. knocking off the rust from years of not welding... not my best welds to start.. but its coming back... slowly.
Hopefully I'll be back to stacking dimes by the time I am...
i just did my alternator, which also means a new radiator (as per recommendations from all), which meant hoses, while I did it I also pulled all the small hoses (vacuum) and other. discount oem parts. total cost 550.00. good for 225k miles. The engine has 148k miles on it.. all cylinders...
agreed. its obvious the people who comment about the 'age' of the LC's know nothing about the engineering that toyota put into the land cruiser dna in the 70/80 and 100 series LC's. I'm not so sure on the 200 series... but largely if you have a key. your land cruiser will run.
I just posted a thread on my 100 series build up and my shift away from the full size f250. I agree with the LC comments above.. and also with the dust in the back of the truck comments above. one of my reasons to do the LC was the dust issue. as far as power.. do a repower. drop a...
I've owned my 99 LC for about 20 years and through the years its seen many different duties from family truckster, to hunting rig, to spare car, to dust catcher. Recently, I decided to make it a dedicated Overlander and stop trying to use my truck as a trail rig. Not that the Ford wasn't...
