Hello all,

Looking through past thread discussions on this, but was wondering if anybody has a favorite campground at the White Rim Trail. Looking at the end of August or September. Thanks in advance!
White Crack

But any spot you can get these days is a miracle.

White Crack is supposed to be great, never been there or Taylor, but we have been to most of the rest of the campsites. Of the remainder I'd have to say that Murphy Hogback is my favorite. Potato bottom is a close second.

Is there a good reason for that? USFS/USPS limiting access?
During the shoulder seasons- the sites go fast. A couple years ago I was on my computer at 11:59 mountain time- 1:59 here, had all the info preloaded- hit the “send” button a couple seconds too late, loaded up alternative sites to no avail. Loaded up alternative dates to no avail- every site was booked/reserved within 10 seconds. There are 20 campsites on the WRT with a maximum of 15 people and three vehicles at each site. It fills up fast when reservations open. Next time we go will be off season, in the winter months- Dec thru end of Feb. it’s cold, but much easier to reserve- summer? Late May thru mid Sept? Way too hot

This is a permit-required area and there are about 100 camp sites spread over 7, or so, campgrounds.

The intent is to prevent overcrowding - which would definitely happen!

The experience is definitely worth the hassle.

100? Not on the WRT, there are 20 spread out over the 70 mile trail.
