I agree in part... but Bronco does show Jeep's weakness. It's huge jump in price from the base models to the rubicon models. This shows a revenue weakness that FCA has been trying to coverr up
i bought the defender 110... after looking at both the big bronco (at a show) and driving the...
wow... troll action on this forum.
first... the usage is a valid argument.
second... tires selection should be vased upon usage... not image.
third... I own FOUR overlanding vehicles. 1 gets used. 1 is being built.. 1 is for a major trip that takes huge planning so it sits... and the last...
when Ford decides to put anything other than the 2.3 ecoboost into it... I'll look again. I spoke with an engineer (for ford) about the 2.7.. he grimaced. I'd love to see the 3.0 diesel from Ford as an option. so I sold my 1st year Bronco slot.. wait to see what Ford does in round 2.
NO... DT. which means Different Tread /different compound. not weight rating. I suggest you go to bfg site.. and send their techs an email. they will give you the 411.
the dt tread is the OLD compound.. and the older tread design.. they wear like iron. the new compound is ice and snow rated.. and wears about 100% faster.
if you are looking at BFG ats... then look for the dt tread .. they are a different rubber compound.. last longer. its the old compound. not the new stuff that wear like hot butter on asphault
If you can swing a F250 crew diesel with a tremor package... go for it.. then buy a tune from Calibrated power. 600HP.... 1200 Ft lbs torque. all emissions still on the truck. I miss the power of mine.. but I was ready for a change after daily driving a 3/4 ton truck for 10 years...
On the f250 I did the carli leveling suspension system and put on 35's. i lost about 1mpg on the highway and about 2mpg in town (due to rotational mass... and the fact I tuned the truck and the launch was fun)... I wouldn't take a stock f250 any place I took mine after the carli system and...
if you are towing.. you should be towing with a diesel. torque is what is required. even then.. a box trailer is a brick. a wedge nose 28 car hauler... aluminum... vs. a flat nose 28 car hauler... aluminum. same truck... same car inside. trailers weighed 250 lbs different with the wedge...
It seems you are kind of headed to a Diesel Jeep Gladiator Rubicon.. or the new 4e version. I looked at them really hard before I bought my 2021 Defender 110.. I just wanted something I could use as a street car for trips... as I have the Land cruiser. 25 mpg is hard to pass up on the...
I totally agree with your statements. For a rookie... looking for a good starting point. recommendations are good. Most would agree a land cruiser is a good place to start looking. Jeeps have their fans as well... the cool thing about overlanding is you can find just about anything out...
take a look at the Ford f150 with the power pack in it. there are plenty of suspension systems on the market.. and the hardest part of a overlanding build is taken care of for you (batteries, generator, etc).. so you can power your lights , fridge, etc.. .. just a thought.
If you are headed the 4x4 van route... there are better places to source a van for less than that auction will close at. personally, I would NEVER buy a military vehicle .. or rather a civilian vehicle operated under military contract. Think 18 year old kids driving them like rental cars...
on a side note: if you have nearly unlimited funds. you might want to consider buying a USED global expedition vehicle from GEV. the cost to get in the door is sizeable. but you get most if not all of your money back on resale. i'd check them out... depending on where you want to go /...
