Is it this one in Colorado?
Edit: I watched the first few seconds of the video...Ouray, Colorado. This is it.
Anyone make it outdoors with their vehicles lately?
Anyone take advantage of the mild weather and camp?
I am hoping to scout some campsites in Rothrock this weekend.
Wish the rain would turn to snow, or just go away.
@LivForNov I went back through the info they sent me.
I passed over the Quehanna trail map they sent...but now I see why it is important.
I found the motorized camping sites you spoke of.
So this will be an area I check out. Hopefully soon.
Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the reply. I figured such, but just found it odd the other Forests replied with the camping regulations and the spots. I did notice the Shaggers inn on one of the maps they sent. Wasn't sure what it was.
I have camped at Parker Dam before.
Man, I really wish I had known about the...
@LivForNov do you know any information about the motorized camping sites?
I recieved some maps and info from the Forest service, but I didn't get one showing the campsites.
Their website says they have the motorized campsites. Rothrock and Bald Eagle both sent me maps with the campsites, but...
My wife has talked about camping at site 9 the last 3 nights. She really liked that one( we only saw one other no. 8)
Hopefully this will be something we get to do often this year. We camp every weekend from April to October. From May to September they get pretty busy and crowded.
Does...
The information is awesome @DBAR because that means they decided it was something they could do.
Just hope the people taking advantage of the privilege respect the chance they are given.
There is alot you can do in this great state, I wish I would have learned about the dispersed camping and...
This is very interesting. Our local state park does not have vehicle trails. Our local state gamelands open 90% of roads including the no maintenance trails from September to February and they have a explore the gamelands self guided tour once a year.
The only vehicles that have access to the...
@Wawa Skittletits I definitely agree.
One thing I didn't know until I got there this weekend is how thick the Forest is. I didn't realize how sharp the switchbacks are and that you can not see up them from the turn until you have made the turn.
Another thing to consider, especially if...
@LGlx and others.
The forest service does use Facebook to alert to closures.
The ice was pretty bad there as back on 5DEC they shut the roads down
And it appears they have shut down some trails for the season.
All forest service roads appeared open. The day I was there...of course the...
All of the forest service roads appear to be open. The ones that show a gate...the gates are closed.
@jrichbrew check out my Bald Eagle thread for more info from that trip

I did see the Forest Service...
I would gather the stuff they recommend and head on the trip. This will do 2 things.
1. Get you out exploring and getting familiar with your rig.
2. Let you know if you need the other stuff at all.
If they say you can make it stock and with that gear...they will have your back if something...
@OverlandZJ site 9 was very large. We are hoping to camp very soon. Our first state park trip with our travel trailer is 10April.
Hoping to tent camp in BESF or Rothrock before then...especially if the weather cooperates.
Keep us posted when you go.
Yes, Duncan trail shows very short on the map.
One thing to remember...the map scale is perfect for the idea of how close stuff is, just also remember it is a flat representation, there are some steep hills here. Lol
Speed limit is 25 mph, I felt pretty comfortable at 20 mph. Some of the...
