    Overlanding Oven

I agree, an oven greatly expands your menu options and the Coleman takes up such little room. This oven. 413E stove and Lodge frying pan have been staples in my cooking gear since the late sixties. Breakfast along side a creek in Great Basin NP.

    Good rock sliders/protection?

I'll second Terry's above comments and add that you should be looking for sliders that are frame mounted (bolt on or welded) rather than attached to the body. I just finished installing White Knuckle's on my Colorado - no comparison between these and the stock GM ZR2 product. The OE's weighed...

    .

Haven't had the chance to do any camping in the northwest yet but hope to remedy that if this COVID mess ever goes away. Hope it will be OK to reach out for suggestions when that time does come.

    .

The details are minimal at this point but I expect this will apply to Park admission only and not provide any camping or gift shop discounts - sort of like the America the Beautiful Annual Pass. Otherwise, some sort of unique identifier will be necessary to prove your qualification for a...

Jump Box, Jumper Cables or Both?

I still carry cables but haven't used them since purchasing a NOCO GB150 about four years back. It has started everything around the farm including Dodge Cummins and 150 HP John Deere tractors.

Best Rig to Start a Build

Sorry ThundaBeagle, my reply 'wasn't meant to challenge anything in your previous post. My intent was to point out that anyone planning to make ALL the mods included in the Bison package might spend close to the cost of that option, especially if they had someone else do the work as I would...

Best Rig to Start a Build

For 2021, the Bison package is a $5,750 option. Definitely not cheap but it depends on what upgrades you'd want to add to a stock ZR2. A few cosmetic things are included but the primary mods are a front bumper with winch provisions, a rear bumper with recovery points, lightweight full...

Best Rig to Start a Build

Wish that color had been an option when I bought mine. FTR, just completed first year of ownership and about to turn 25K miles on mine (Gas, CC, Bison) - still very happy with the truck. My hard core off-roading days are long past and now its 70% DD, 25% tow (3.5K 5th wheel Scamp) and 5%...

    Death of the “Coleman” Lantern?

Coleman still offers one liquid fuel lantern model that can usually be found at Cabelas, Bass Pro, Dicks etc. If you want one that dates back to your youth, they're often found at yard sales and flea markets. Ebay and craigslist are also options but you'll likely pay a little more. This is a...

US Southeast North Carolina Brewery Meetup

Would a couple of senior citizens be welcome? We generally run solo but our six year old grand daughter has made a few trips with us which she seemed to enjoy but I think it would be more fun for her if shared with other kids.

    Access card denied

Boppa's Travels - Thankyou for your service. I think you ran across someone who didn't know the rules or possibly those were concessionaire operated facilities. There are not separate passes for different Federal Agencies. I've camped in Lincoln NF and received a fifty percent discount using...

SOLD 2 Scepter 20l MFC fuel Cans Olive Drab $70 each Tucson, AZ

Definitely a quality fuel container at a reasonable price. I've had two of the Scepter mfc's and one of their water can for over five years and they've held up well. As Desert Runner mentioned, a wrench and spout will also be needed - I bought mine from JAGMTE but there are other sources. I...

Looking at buying a 2000watt generator for my micro camper A/C unit

Many generators have a cable with alligator clips for charging a battery but I've always found them to be very slow and you have to monitor closely to prevent overcharging. A good 110v smart battery charger plugged into the genny is a much better solution IMO.

Whats a good battery setup for a camper trailer?

My setup is two GC2 six volt golf cart batteries wired in series and we can easily go a three day weekend running the water pump (showers daily for both of us), interior lights (all LED bulbs) and our Maxx fan (eight hrs/night). They are not top of the line but rather Sam’s Club low end at...

Sounds to put you to sleep.

Water over rocks works for us as well but my favorite is the surf when camped a few yards above the high tide line. Rain is also good if I know the tent will have time to dry out before we break camp.
