Downs (Post#18) - Good advice on the pre-cooling especially if its rotomolded. These are usually well insulated and tend to retain their 'starting' temp.
Wahoowad (Post #19) - That looks to be some serious warping. Please let us know how Liftetime responds.
FTR, the Lifetime coolers are blow molded rather than roto molded (see email response below). However, the hinges, latches, drain and seal they use are definitely an upgrade from what Coleman and Igloo used in the past. And those are the components I had to replace at least every other year...
Nice purchase - I've had a NOCO for a couple of years now and have been well satisfied with it for use around the farm. Great power and it holds a charge so much better than anything I've owned previously.
The Park is generally a zoo over July 4th but, with COVID19, who knows what it will be like this year. The Visitor Centers in GSMNP are good places to stop for info and all three have a number of exhibits. Elk, turkey and other wildlife are common in the meadows near the VC on the southern...
Check with a USFS district office for Nantahala, Pisgah and/or Cherokee (TN) NF for current conditions. Pisgah announced several openings as of today but I'm not sure about the other two. FS81 (starts behind the kiosk at the beginning of the Cherohala Skyway outside Robbinsville) has several...
Probably not a lot going on yet. If you're coming in from the north (US64 to Nags Head), I'd suggest a ride through the NPS Frisco campground. I think its a much better option than the Ocracoke CG with more privacy between sites rather than an open field. You can still get over to Ocracoke...
I'm not familiar with Biker Eagle's Outland Deluxe model but we've had a Campfire-in-a-Can for several years that is self contained making it easy to transport. That company is no longer in business but Camco offers a similar design called Little Red Campfire We replaced the ceramic logs with...
I haven't been since Dorian hit so your best bet on launch points would be to contact the staff when you arrive. The turtle/bird nesting exclusions will also play a part in where travel is permitted. For the last several years, there was a sound access spur off the back road on the southern...
If you hit Badlands NP, the Sage Creek campground there is kinda neat with bison roaming free - had one rocking the camper as he scratched an itch. We also camped at Horsethief Lake CG (the one in Black Hills Nat Forest ) and also some dispersed sites in the NF - plenty of spots to choose...
There are two sections of CALO that allow access to vehicles - Portsmouth Island (North Core Banks) and South Core. Morris Marina provides the vehicle ferry service to Portsmouth and Davis Shore or Cape Lookout Cabins and Camps will get you over to South Core. We've used and been satisfied...
Not too much open in the eastern part of the state yet. Cape Lookout National Seashore is great with two islands to choose from and twenty miles of unspoiled beach on each but you really need to have three or more days to do it justice.
Hope some of it will be of benefit. You western follks are fortunate to have so much beautiful public land to play on and we appreciate the opportunity to visit with y'all. Here in NC, we have to work a little harder to find those spots but our coastal barrier islands and Smokies hardwood...
Figuring out what's open should be a challenge - good luck to ya!. Frrom what I'm seeing this AM ,most of the western NPs are still closed. If things around Moab open up Horsethief is a pretty good BLM campground central to Arches NP, Canyonlands NP, Dead Horse Point SP and lots of backroads...
Combination of 60's vintage Comet pot, 533 Coleman from the mid 90's, modern Engel tumblers on an unknown creek in Nevada make for a pretty good cup a joe.
I've had a M8000 with wire rope on my TJ for twenty years and its been solid. Installed a ComeUp Seal Gen2 9.5RS on my ZR2 Bison last Fall and really like the synthetic line over cable and the wireless remote is awesome. I'd recommend either one.
That gear is way too clean and shiny - you need to get out more  Seriously, that meal looks pretty darned good. One suggestion - look around for a Coleman single burner like the 533 and you'd have a single fuel source for your stoves.
Nice find and a good price. I leave mine pumped with fuel during each trip but drain the tank and clean the stoves thoroughly when we return home. Not sure if that's correct but its worked for me.
I'm no expert on these but your's looks to be a 413H (Model# is stamped on the front) and I'd...
"4x4 Tacoma, stock suspension, slightly oversized tires" - that's me and we've driven every road in the National Park without any problems other than a flat. But, as Road advised, check with staff for current conditions. A little rain makes a big difference.
