Rath's Trailer Build - First Test Pull Done!

My wife tells me I never bothered to grow up. How the heck would she know???? She's only been married to me for 44 years.

    My teardrop project v1.0

I figure that when I got the frame all done, I was 10% complete. Good Luck.

Someone Explain Why My Wheels Are Rubbing

The inside profile of the rims could be different.

    Overland Trailers

Doing a homebuilt is not hard in Colorado. You do have to have the State Patrol inspect it before you can get your title and tags. I think that ran $20.

    Diesel Heater and CO...No Alarm...????

My diesel heater sends ALL of the combustion products outside, just like in your home. As long as you plumb it correctly, there is no need for a CO alarm.

    Fuel

I don't carry them for looks like many. I carry mine so I don't run out when things don't go as planned. Mine are decidedly old school and by the way were way cheap. I cleaned them up and painted them. One has diesel for my heater. I carry a spare fuel pump for my jeep. I keep a 15' cord...

    Should I replace poor-reviewed tires?

Drive them till the cord shows and if they work for you, buy another pair. I wouldn't trust anything I read on the web.

Rath's Trailer Build - First Test Pull Done!

Any trailer supply place will sell premade receivers with the hole drilled in it and even a band around the exit for strength. I think I paid $13 for mine.

    AGM battery life?

I don't hate them but I understand that they are not the answer to every problem. I use them because I can get them cheap and they handle the extreme angle and bouncing without venting all over everything.

    AGM battery life?

Personally, I am an engineer with specific experience in commercial/military battery systems. I have run AGMs since they came out. I have found that a well maintained lead acid battery lasts as long if not longer than an AGM. I have been through 5 AGMs in personal vehicles. I find they do...

    Uberlands slow-but-hopefully-steady Excursion build.

While on the surface this may seem logical, it really has to do with where in the power band your are running. Lower gears (higher number) routinely will help mileage on vehicles with taller tires due to getting the rpms where the engine is more efficient if your engine is running too slowly...

    propane tanks

The simplest and safest way is to crack the overflow screw and fill until you start getting liquid out. Rhino even changes this.

    propane tanks

Beware of Blue Rhino tanks. They set them up and only fill them to the 15 lb level instead of the standard 20lb level. So you get 25% less gas. Even when you refill them elsewhere, it will vent at 15lbs from my experience. I grew up on a farm and have used propane/butane for 60 years.
