Hi
Some guidance please.

Currently driving Overland, and in Georgia, about to go into Armenia.
On NZ passports.

We need to be in Ryiad (Saudi) by 10th January.

My questions:
Is it easier to go from Armenia into Iran through the land border and through to Saudi
or
Reverse back and go into Turkey and then down through Iraq land border,, and then into Saudi, and later into Iran?

What are the specific land border requirements to get into Iran and Iraq, on NZ passports? I seem to get conflicting info when i go on=line.
We have the Carne de Passage for the vehicle.

Many thanks

Hi Pete,

I haven't been to the Arabian Peninsula myself. But I have a few thoughts about it and some information I got on my last trip to turkey and the caucasus in the summer.

A motorcyclist on his way to India told me that crossing the border from Armenia to Iran was very easy.

When crossing the border from Turkey to Iraq, as far as I know there is still the problem that you then enter the Kurdish part of Iraq and the visa you get is only valid for this part and then you have to fly from e.g. Mosul to Baghdad first, get the visa for the rest of the country and then drive back - the visa would expire on a domestic flight - and then you have to continue.

I met two overlanders on the tour who came from Africa via the Arabian Peninsula and also through Iraq in a Land Cruiser and a G Wagon. They were not very enthusiastic about Iraq. If you like, I can put you in touch with them so that you can share information. Just let me know if you are interested.

Also our member @Dimitri_Raptis who is located in Saudi might be able to give you some infos and help you.

Safe travels,
Bjoern

Hi. As replied privately as well, best way to enter Saudi Arabia from your destination is through Kuwait
