Another Hampton Roads member here. We went to the Appalachian Toyota Roundup last weekend and will go to the Overland Expo in October. We're skipping the James River Rooftop Tent Rally this year, but we had fun last year and will go again next year.
On 18 September there will be a Coastal...
No CPAP usage, but my wife and I have been using our Jackery 500 for a year now. A few observations:
1. 500 wh is quite a bit of juice. With the vehicle shut down and a fridge drawing current, it drops from 100% to 84% overnight.
2. It lacks a USB-C output and therefore can't recharge an...
I have a fridge slide from DFG Offroad that I will be mounting to a Goose Gear plate system. I see two approaches - drill new holes through the Goose Gear plate and insert threaded T-Nuts to match the six holes already in the slide, or drill new holes through the DFG slide to use the existing...

One thing that has increased is the splits between regular-mid-premium. They used to be 10 cent jumps. Now the jumps are usually 30 cents per step. Looking at octane levels of 87-89-93, if you are looking for 89 octane it's worth it to mix 1/3 premium and 2/3 regular and save a few cents per...
Going from 12 to 15 mpg will save about 17 gallons per thousand miles. That's about $55 per thousand miles. Assuming $2500 for the re-gear, that's about 45,000 miles.
2000 miles at 15mpg burns 133 gallons. 2000 miles at 12 mpg burns 167 gallons. Is 34 gallons of gas - just over a hundred dollars - really a factor on a 2000 mile adventure?
It would take a lot of miles to pay for the gear change, if it would even help. Increasing engine RPMs would help...
