At this point I just started to learn about overlanding. I saw there was the VT overland rally and decided to give it a shot.
Here is my wife 8 months pregnant with our daughter at the rally. We stopped at Longtrail brewery after a good run on the trails
The fall before the bumper my wife and I went to the OK4WD trucktober fest. That's where the real changes started to happen. I was convinced, or was waiting for someone to tell me it's ok, to get a lift for the truck. I ordered the BDS 4" lift with Fox 2.0 rear shocks. Then all that and the...
To fix the rear sag I ordered an auto spring add-a-leaf. It added 1.5" to the rear and helped keep the truck level when hauling all our stuff.
So that was all good for a while. I learned more and more about the truck and started making my build plan. First up was a steel bumper with full skid...
The previous owner wasn't exactly kind to it. It had about 25k miles on it and was only 8 months old. The tires needed replacing desperately so we got a set of Toyo atII tires to start.
I also went and plasti dipped all the chrome. The truck was fine but had some other issues, it needed a bed...
My wife and I purchased our F150 the weekend of Thanksgiving back in 2013. It just happened to fall into our lap going through my father's shop. Had no intention of buying a new vehicle at the time but the truck was so nice and perfect for us and what we had been planning for the future. We had...
Thanks folks! appreciate all the help. I was aware of not cutting the cable and already had this mounted on a cap so the ring is already soldered on. I may purchase a 3' antenna to get it sitting a little higher of the rack. The RCI rack is a low pro design. Good to learn something new.
I'll...
Huge shout out to BillyBadly!! Thanks for all your help today. I got my fire pit coming from Portland. Thats what this community is all about, helping each other out.
Cant wait to test this thing out. I have a pallet to chop up and burn :grimacing:
Exactly what I'm trying to avoid. Open bed, no problem. Turn the top of the bed into a flat bed, accident waiting to happen. Heck I have gotten close when just tossing wood in the back. I would go full cab guard if they had better options aesthetically.
Spendy? Ehh compared to a cap that can be broken into and can't hold a load. I'll take the diamond back. Yeah it's a bit more than a vinyl cover, however you can't compare the two.
Ugh.... Not what I wanted to hear. Saw an add for one last night. I could not tell if the website was legit. I think I'll call them later and ask. Couldn't hurt... But I don't speak Japanese lol
I would choose toyota over nissan any day. However, there are some sweet Xterras on this forum. I would also not rule out the 4runner, unless you have your heart set on one of these 2.
I have a midland CB with a 2' Firestik non ground plain antenna. I used to have the antenna mounted on a Thule bar on my Leer cap, that is now long gone.
I want to mount the same antenna to my RCI bed rack. Do any of you know if that will be an issue? The rack is powder coated steel and will...
For us, breakfast has turned into the meal we do. I always plan on a big dinner but we get in late and end up just cooking sausage on the grill haha. Aiming to change that by saving time on camp set up with our RTT and lighter gear.
Our go to breakfast is: pancake mix (add water kind)...
I'm going to pick up the outer limit supply weekender. It has the stuff I am comfortable and trained to use along with all the basic needs while out. I will mount it and my fire extinguisher to the RCI bed rack. When that will be? hopefully before June!! time seems to be tight these days.
I was hoping to pick up a snow peak large fire pit for our trips this year. I cant seem to find a reliable source for the large. Anyone know a place I should look?
Also, would the medium be enough? its 4" overall smaller. Bonus is its $40 cheaper too.
Edit: Answered part of my own question. I...
I like the ram box. I'm surprised no one else has copied it yet. However I still rather have as much bed space as possible. I cant wait to buy a Power Wagon some day and put a flat bed on it.
I looked at my RCI bedrack today. It would be very difficult to get much out of my bed with the...
Hmm I see what your saying after a quick google. Are you 100% against painting them? It appears that if you go to a powder coat place that knows metal and knows what they are doing then its not an issue.
I think you could get a real answer from someone that knows and works with aluminum. They...
