That is a really cool version of the Teardrop. But that price can get you a lot of other things. For those with weight restrictions its a great option.
if you can wait and see what kind of trails you prefer to go down, then make the decision, that will save any buyers remorse. But if you put on the 1"-3" lift now, you likely wont think "man I wish I went shorter." I'm a big proponent of figuring out what you "need" vs. what you simply want.
I saw these today and am considering one to carry an ATV and keep my stuff dry. More versatile than a rack, and not much more money. Unless you can build it yourself.

Has anyone seen these before? You can load 400-1600 lbs on top depending on model and can bolt through the lids for other gear mounting or RTT probably. Weather proof, that's a biggie for me.

Yeah, things don't always go as you hoped. First time I took my wife out camping the "scattered showers" turned into torrential downpour and the spot my wife wanted turned into a creek. Live and learn.
No kidding, I wash my motorcycle once a year, when it rains so I don't have to keep rinsing it. The truck gets rains bathes, unless I have to kick off some dried crud.
I was caught in an ice storm going from Central TX to Phoenix AZ when we detoured through the NM mountains. 18 F()*&ing degrees in APRIL!! One of my worst motorcycle moments.
If you go with a well known brand AT or MT you will be fine. I've had BFG ATs, Treadwright knockoffs of the BFG ATs, Pro Comps, Super swampers, Hercules (don't remember much about them). All did well. More aggressive tread, better traction with more noise and quicker wear. I run MTs on my truck...
The trees don't have to be equally spaced, you just find the best spot in between. I've been looking at their videos. The equalizing and balancing explains how to best set up.
