I started out with that same ARB snatch strap but after learning more about it from our Australian cousins I gave that to my brother for his Xterra. I replaced it with a...
Sidewinder Xtreme
Those convicts still consider that on the heavy side but I think its a good weight for the portly 5th...
Haha no problem. They're definitely the best value in AT tires right now and I've been very happy with them in all conditions.
Your stock wheel/tire weighed 58lbs (21lb wheel + 33lb tire + 4)?
Remind me to tell you a story sometime of missed opportunities...
I thought about reaching out to them the other day but figured it will be soon based on the availability of other Subaru models. It’s what I’ve been waiting for so I’ll be on board with one as well.. as long as I plan to keep...
Looks like everything’s coming along great! Be careful with that snatch strap. It’s rating is heavy for the Outback so it’s not going to stretch as much as you’d want in a recovery situation. In short... take it easy.
At least it was just a face hahaha.
Wildpeaks are definitely lighter but in the case of my size I was surprised to learn the difference was only 3lbs. Falkens are still 12lbs more than my previous tire, the G015, in the same size. Also the P rated Wildpeak is more robust than people give it credit for. It falls between a C and...
I’ve had 8 Black Oak rock lights to install for around a year or so. I always have projects going and they just fell to the back burner. Not to mention my ‘versatile lighting’ project really does it all. My intended purpose was always mainly indirect light at camp. Placement was going to be 2 in...
I’ve been running fogs in the 2500-3000k range for 19 years now because I absolutely prefer their performance in inclement weather. The edge has only gotten wider over the years with more and more headlights operating north of 4300k. My current low beams are 5000k (as high as I’d ever go) and...
I rarely take the opportunity to get pictures of the places I go or the things I’ve done to my wagon but here are some old pictures of my lights. No headlights or fogs in the pics and covers are required in the snow as you can see in the third picture haha. The light output and throw of my Black...
I’m actually really disappointed about this. That section of 85 was always the easy way in and now they want to make it Prius easy. I don’t see the benefit to GWJNF by increasing traffic.
Welcome to Overland Bound and the East Region! Look forward to meeting you out there with the kids!
If you ever have any questions feel free to reach out. In the meantime here are some some links to the East Region sub forum, the events calendar, and the rally point events page...
Welcome to Overland Bound and congrats on your new Outback! I have a lot of experience with lifted 5th gens so here are my thoughts on a couple things..
Unless you're going for a 'look' there is no reason for spacers that large on this car. You gained some width with the wheels and you gained...
Rule number 1 when you want to do anything outside the box to your Subaru.... don’t listen to anyone who doesn’t have experience in this arena. I’ve heard some pretty idiotic things come out of the mouths of ‘experts’ over the years.
First of all your Outback is never going to win any handling...
Please don’t take this the wrong way but his Outback is an example of what you can do if you go to LP Adventures website and start clicking add to cart haha. Unfortunately there are quite a few LP rubber stamps out there. They’re nice mild builds but I prefer some individuality and the...
Got that right. If you see a driver watching TV in the back seat of their vehicle with their kids while going down the road that is most definitely worse.
If anyone is interested in driving/exploring more of Forbes and potentially having some winter fun keep in mind that DCNR opens gates for a short period of time every year. It’s typically 4-5 months from fall into winter but in the case of Forbes it’s a little less than a month. Last year they...
Welcome to Overland Bound and welcome to the east region @Scott21! I saw in another post that Hank already gave you the rundown of pertinent links but if you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
Not specifically, NJ is simply part of the east region.
I replaced my OE fogs with BD Squadrons and the same option is available for the 13 Taco. Brackets included.
