I can't answer that one, but I can tell you the earlier models had a 3.0L engine with either 12 valves or 24 valves. So far I like the 12 valve in our 1993 model. Less moving parts, less valves/guides/seals to replace... It is quite peppy also. Very surprising actually....
Yep true. I’ve found the factory (oem) running boards are the strongest. They typically bolt to the frame, whereas the aftermarket steps/running boards bolt to the pinchwelt.
Even the big name steps and running boards bolt to the pinch welt and flex when you stand on them.
I can tell you from my short experience with our 93, they are super simple and easy to work on. Parts are cheap, and if you are willing to do your own wrenching it is very rewarding because things are so easy to fix...
MPG: ~15 according to the window sticker
Locking rear diff: Not on this model. It does have limited slip in the rear though.
Locking center diff: Yep.
I haven't really looked into lift kits for hers. In stock form it is fine for what we do. I did crank up the torsion bars in the front to level...
Eureka Titan. Strong as an ox, well ventilated, and sleeps 8 wih gear.
Found ours on a NE craigslist about 7 yrs ago and had it shipped over.
We have now seitched to RTT, but still have the titan just in case.

My daughter loves her 93 Montero... first car, and she’s already done tons of overlanding with it. The local Mitsu dealer has had all the parts we’ve needed so far, at very reasonable costs. Just finished valve guide seals and valve cover gaskets on it... Dakar winner multiple times ya know...
I agree, if it’s not easy, I don’t wanna do it.
I work a full time job, am married, have 3 young kids, try and stay in shape, and we go to church twice a week. The last thing I want to do is add more stress, and take more time away from my wife and kids. They don’t deserve anything less than...
Same here, check fluids, tire pressure, check inventory on the cases, pack food, done.
We keep the RTT on full time, and will soon have RoadShowers mounted also, so we are always ready to go... I see no need to remove equipment that is mounted with nylocks and driven around town.

Roof top tent = Minutes to setup, rocks on the ground don’t matter, less to carry in the vehicle, away from animals, a nice breeze up high, a tent with you wherever you go without having to remember to pack it, a built in mattress... the list can go on a bit more...

A couple weeks ago we picked up a two week old Tepui on Craigslist for $350. It had the heavy duty extendable ladder and everything!
There are great deals out there if you wait, and search.

They just got a spot on foxnews.com...
Considering i paid an average of $400 for each of my used roof top tents, and they are moveable to any brand of vehicle I choose... then yeah that leentu option doesn’t make sense to me... maybe it will for someone.
We use an 03 Expedition and it works great. Kudos for getting the short wheelbase, that will help offroad.
We went with the Truxxx 2.5” spacer kit, and kept the running boards on, and it works great offroad. The Goodyear Duratracs help a lot also.
My suggest would be similar to what we have...
Ah. Good to know thank you.
It makes sense that cars haven't had manual hubs since the 80s, back when people did their own maintenance... Now everyone wants a button to push, and failures seem to be more catastrophic (call a tow truck) than they used to be... sad.
On the flipside, we are...
Roof rack.
Roof top tent.
3 case camping supply system.
If you are frugal, and patient, and don’t mind buying used, you can get this done for less than $1000.

You are trying to highlight too big of a section. Each section has tiles in it. Highlight a smaller section, under 10,000 tiles. Once the tile count turns red that you know you have too many tiles highlighted in the section.
