Easy on/off tonneau cover for Silverado?

Most soft tonneau covers are held onto rails by velcro. Just take it off when you aren't camping. Mine came off pretty quick and easy. It's a GMC branded one, so, whoever made it

Is the Overlanding community killing itself

'It's pointless for a human to post scenes of nature on an overlanding forum, when he can go outside and drive in it'... or something like that.

    Field Comms

Consider fanning through or searching the site for this topic. It has been discussed over and over again here - beaten like a dead horse, almost - though not as much as "which tires should I buy" If you asked which brand or model radio, I could see that, as technology and offerings change evet...

What is the best piece of advice you can give a new overlander?

Just renewed mine. Truck is 10 years old, over 200 thousand miles and I do 100 miles a day in it.

    Clothing what do you pack?

I'd have to say, yes, sometimes the Columbia PFG gets a little smelly. The LL Bean is a slightly heavier shirt but is still breathable. Craghopper, I've never tried and only ever seen them a couple of years ago up in North Conway NH. Wasn't sure if THEY were a knockoff until I looked them up...

    Clothing what do you pack?

Ya, MidOH. I guess ya dont know. Yeah I am wading into a swamp with $25 Darn Tough socks on. Yes. Because it's not just the cost factor. It's the quality of the item (materials and manufacturing) and in this case, the quality is what makes it wick better, dry better, rinse better, cushier...

    Clothing what do you pack?

As Jimmy mentions about if you cant wear an item more than one way you probably shouldn't bring it... Something like Columbia PFG or L. L. Bean's Tropicwear shirts can be had in short or long sleeves, but the long sleeves can be rolled up and buttoned so they stay up above your elbow...

    Clothing what do you pack?

Don't forget to bring a towel! @oldsoldier181 makes some good points, starting with "are you alone and dont care" about offending others with odor. Packing lighter like @jimmyjamson is a dream of mine, I'm working towards it, and am pretty sure following what @Alanymarce does will keep you in...

Is the Overlanding community killing itself

Ok, but, see, the same term does not really apply to those same two things. It just doesn't, although some would like to pretend they do. One is car camping. The other is more of an expedition. And theres road trips. Yes I think you are correct - the blurring of those lines is the let-down...

Is the Overlanding community killing itself

Guys, to quote someone famous: "Cmon, man!" It's easy to misread tone in what amounts to a text message. Some are obvious, sure, but I think the more we try to give "the other guy" the benefit of the doubt when it comes to a question of tone, the better off the place will be. I'm at both here...

    The Dune Sea Land Speeder

I dunno...that windshield Easter egg pic of the Jeep being attacked by the ATAT...should be being approached by the Jawa Sand Crawler (sorry, my last Jeep was a 99WJ, and it took a LOT)

Ah, the venerable ZJ. A pleasure to see one any time, especially "out and about."

    what radio

Even up here in New England I hear conversation over CB regularly. Daily. But that is usually when I am nearing some sort of intermodal center, trucking hub, or whatnot, but I do hear conversation around the I-90 and route 2 E-W corridors daily. I do NOT hear much at all in the greater Boston...

    TIRES

As always, real world insight from a couple who have "been there". Just to be clear here, are you talking about the Michelin Defender LTX, or the LTX A/T (2?). Also, very interesting comment on the Yokohamas. Though you recommend the Toyo Open Country, how would you compare them to Michelin...

Kayaks- Inflatable, Rigid, Folding…whaddya have and how you like it

I have two old ones, like 15 years. 10 foot Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 in orange and a 9.5 foot Islander Swifty. Theyve been through the wringer, and I've even repaired holes in both of them with a heat gun and a shredded frisbee. They keep on going, though this year or next might be...
