    TIRES

Are you saying that KO2 and 3's, certain types of Wranglers, and WildPeaks, and such - which continue to sell like mad as the industry standard AT's - are themselves obsolete, or are you thinking, no matter what they call themselves (AT's), they are really RT's by another name?

    TIRES

Is the Rubitrek a slightly more tame tire than the Wildpeaks? Something a little more polite on-road if slightly less capable than the Wildpeaks off road?

    Music and Overlanding

Bob Seger. Johnny Cash. Any of the Outlaws, really. Vivaldi's Four Seasons. The Planets. Santana. All the driving songs you can think of like Radar Love and Twilight Zone and many many others. Add to that some film scores. Because with some of the stunning and striking sights that I've...

    starter recommendations

You mention a GMT1500 Blazer. Easier to find would be the GMT400 series('87-'99), or GMT800 series (taking you to 2006) Tahoe or Yukon. Maybe even the Suburban or Yukon XL. 4 doors. That second row of doors could fit more people, or fold the back seats down to load more cargo or help tug...

    Budget Weekender Rig

Have a GMC Sierra, daily driver. Mild mods but more I want to do. But. It. Drinks! So then I thought I'd add a Subaru Forester to the mix as the daily driver for better economy and the legendary AWD. Keep the Sierra for weekend duty. Haven't squeezed the trigger on a Forester yet because we...

    The Dune Sea Land Speeder

Are we going to see little Jawas or Tuskens stenciled on the side, denoting number "bagged"? Wamp rats, maybe?

    Bear care

Im I'm no bear expert. I've never even seen a grizzly live and in progress, though I do get black bears in my back yard regularly. As I understand it there's a difference between black bears and Grizzlies, in that a black bear is more like a grazing cow, and a grizzly tends to stake out an...

    Truck cap platform option

Not sure if this helps but a wider rack might help. The old Trac Rac systems, including Cap Rac, were bought by Thule. They can stick out the sides farther, giving you more space for the iKamper. Just take off those top little "bookend" slider brackets I have on top.

What is the best piece of advice you can give a new overlander?

I second this...I've mentioned it a few times, but a simple tarp tied from truck to trees is as good as any batwing awning. Not as fancy or easy to set up, but just as useful. That or a pop-up 10x10 instant canopy for $50 at Dicks

    Question on Differential Lockers

...and I bet the frame of your Arkansas 2000 looks better than the frame of my New England 2014.

    Question on Differential Lockers

Sir, Nice clean machine. If you open the glove compartment and check your RPO codes, there is a very good chance you have one listed as 'G80'. This is the Eaton auto-locker, your 'limited slip'. Mine is a G80 with 3:42. The G80 is all ove ever known. Never had selectable locker (s), but...

US West Hello everyone. My wife and I went to Afton Canyon campground last week and we must say that it sucked! (clickbait)

Not sure if STEM would work. It helps a lot here in the Northeast. All natural blend of things like Peppermont, Rosemary, Thyme, Lemon, Cedar. I put it on myself and the dog, though I do use a monthly chemical topical on the dog as well. And I wash the dog with a similar shampoo that comes...

Places to avoid in Black Hills

There was a campsite in eastern Colorado that USED to be a Jellystone, downhill from a hotel, to which would not willingly return. We actually packed up and left before nightfall. Our experience in Badlands, Cedar Pass, Black Hills and Deadwood, however, were good, so I can only offer positive...
