Censorship in the time of mistrust

This is intended as a discussion. You know? Where two or more people come together to discuss their views in a polite and respectful way? In none of the threads mentioned above was there a "flamewar". It was simply two or more people having a difference of opinion. No bashing, no bullyingi, no...

Censorship in the time of mistrust

This is a real sore spot for me. I randomly looked at a few recent threads in different forums and as I went to reply, found they had been locked. Don't we have enough issues with social media not allowing the freedom of expression, whether you agree with what is being said or not? We are all...

    A Nice Saturday Morning Haboob

I lived in Phoenix in the mid 2000's and experienced them there. They roll out from the east across the valley west. Awesome to watch them pick up dirt, roll upwards, then you get massive friction behind it which fuels lightning, big wind, moisture and wicked thunderstorms. Yesterday was just...

Best places to go in north new Mexico!

I haven't found that to be true. Santa Fe maybe where the PoPo have nothing to do... We go monthly and have had no issues. And the reality is when you go to a gas station, restaurant, etc, in small to midsize towns, more often than not, no one is wearing a mask. That's been my experience from...

Do I need a lift for a Rooftop Tent on a Jeep Rubicon JL

Adding spacers in the back only will give you a really poor ride when you aren't loaded up with lots of weight. If you are looking for a budget lift just to help you maintain ride height and control, I'd look into adding an improved sway bar in the rear. Probably don't need to upgrade your...

Do I need a lift for a Rooftop Tent on a Jeep Rubicon JL

Not completely accurate... Total amount of weight in the vehicle dictates suspension ability to function. Squat is guaranteed if you add a RTT and gear, food, camping needs for multiple people.

Best places to go in north new Mexico!

Northern NM is not too dissimilar form Southern CO. Mountains, snow, road closures, etc. If you want a river, the Rio Grande runs from roughly Taos out to the Santa Fe region. Taos is around 7200' elevation. Temp there this morning was 8°F. Unless you are prepared for winter cold camping, I'd...

    A Nice Saturday Morning Haboob

Welcome to West Texas. A roughly 10-12k' haboob was kicked up this morning in Lubbock. Winds have been 25-25mph with 60+mph gusts. Haven't had one here in a few years. This is the backside of it as it heads E/SE.

Anyone used a vehicle leveler app?

Pour a beer in a pint glass, place on spare tire. Level as needed. Drink.

    How to carry propane tank

Its an unnecessary amount of fuel, weight and size to want to "mount" on a Jeep, unless you are going into the deep for 6 months at a time. If it was an RV, sure, but being a mid size SUV, youre at a premium for mounting space.

    Question on vehicle modifications

More to the point... if you are crossing, the inspection issue is moot besides the big issues like lighting, registration, general condition of the vehicle, etc. I've crossed from Bellingham, Wa to Derby Line, Vt. in my Jeep. Zero issues. Commercial vehicles are subject to greater scrutiny for...

Where to move to in Texas?

As a guy who lived in Seattle for 22 years, HS, UW, etc... and have since lived in Phoenix, Charlottesville, Long Island, Buffalo and now Lubbock, Tx, I can tell you I have a love hate relationship here. The good: Terrific conservative family oriented community. Baptist, Methodist, Catholic...

    First Aid Kit Location

This is kind of what I am getting at. In all honesty, how many people have ACTUALLY used their kit for something other than a Band-Aid, tweezers or trauma sheers to open a challenging plastic bag for dinner? Now I am not dismissing be prepared. But at times, being overprepared is of far...

What dry duffle are you using and why?

I wound up going slightly overkill with an 89L, but wearing XXXL clothes and size 14 shoes, it will work for both winter and summer trips. Saw the Wolfman and liked the side access. This is from the BDR folks in Seattle and Touratech USA MC gear...

    First Aid Kit Location

MOLLE on the inside of the tailgate. Speaking of first aid kits... I've watched with some fascination about the types of prices of some kits people buy for their rigs. I've seen like what I have, small, simple, basics to full on kits that are more complete than when I worked as a paramedic in...

Are overland / adventure trailers considered RV's?

Call ahead with your question. I'd think that most places would see it as a tent since you can drop it off and walk away in a tent sized spot, not a pull through RV spot. Explain it is not a trailer than can be lived in, only when the tent is deployed.
