Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I haven't done any winter camping in years unless you count tailgating with our travel trailer at football games... but I always enjoyed it when I did in the past. Most of he FS road I usual travel in the summer get gated in the winter and are only open to snowmobiles so I think I'll have to...
I've been looking at some different areas around the John day river for a possible trip this winter. I haven't been over there much so I'll have to do some more looking as to what would be a good spot. I'll also check out the hot springs, thanks for the ideas.
Here's the start of my rear seat delete/storage box setup. It will be two separate boxes so I can put one side of the the seat in if I ever need to. I plan to just leave the bottom open then have 2 lids per box. I'm mainly doing this for the extra storage and a good place for the dog to ride...
Came across these, not sure about the brands or if anyone is in the market for them but the price doesn't look bad.
Christmas gifts for yourself!

Sounds like the Blues are supposed to get 4"-12" of snow in the next few day. I would imagine anything over 3000' over there would have some snow. If you went to Dayton, then up Hatley gulch rd to skyline it's a little more gradual climb in elevation so you could make it in a ways looking for...
Haven't been up there in a while so I'm not sure where the snows at. You can go up out of Walla Walla or Dayton onto skyline rd and I'm sure you could find one up there.
The coast is always an option, for me being in eastern Washington if I head west it would need to be at least an overnight trip. That and camping over there in the winter months usually means rain. What are your go to places for high desert trips?
What's everyone's favorite trip (off road not vacation) to take during the winter months in the NW, day trip or overnight?
With winter setting in a lot of the trails and FS roads will be getting closed due to snow so I'm curious if people just plan to hunker down for the winter or still make...
John! How you been? When are we going to hit some trails again?
Yesterday afternoon I ran into the couple in the green JK that we met on the trail above Copper City, the ones that told us the trail was blocked. Apparently the guy is a high school friend of one of my friends... small world.
Sounds good, now with King Jay's new lockdown rules it doesn't look like I'm going anywhere or doing anything for a while so whenever you have time should work.
Something like that's not a bad idea, I hate not being able to check behind me in the mirror. And I won't admit to how many trees or stumps I've backed into when the cargo area has been full of gear.
Lookin' good! Are you guys welding in the sheet metal or using bolts? If it's not attached yet and you guys want to put in some dimpled holes we can bring it out to the shop one of these evenings or this weekend.
I really haven't yet with this rig, but I'm not opposed to it. There was some snow left on the trails this spring so it was all hard wet snow not fun early winter powder.
Thanks, for a rig that isn't totally built for the trail it does well. It has a looong way to go before the projects slow down but I'll keep plugging away at them as time and cash allow. One thing I forgot to put on my list of things to do this winter is some type of traction aids. I never...
Now that winter is closing in on us things are slowing down around the farm and snow in the mountains isn't far off, that means time to start planning winter projects for the WJ! For the most part I think the WJ did everything I wanted and the modifications I've made were on point, but there is...
I finally got done reading you're build over on Mallcrawlin and I like your setup. I plan on upgrading axles at some point and I'm thinking JK 44's for the ease of all the parts being out there to do it without too much being custom made. Knowing what you do now, would you still go 9" and...
Sounds good, I'll try to stop by if I'm not working. I'm sure you have everything covered tool wise, but is there anything you want me to bring? Hand tools, power tools, tube bender, hole saw jig, bench top brake, dimple dyes?
