    Back Country Navigator.....yah or nay?

I've found Gaia a lot easier to use. I tried BCN first and was completely lost, if you'll pardon the pun. Couldn't figure out very much of it at all.

Seattle area astrophotography meet and campsite cleanup, - 04/07/2018

I just checked the forecast. Looks like it's supposed to be raining all weekend.

    Army surplus uses??

+1 on the sleep system. Love that thing. Also love my woobie (poncho liner). Ammo cans are good for storing spare fluids (oil, transmission, brake, etc), and tools. I have several boxes of chem lights that my old supply sgt gave me because they were expired. They still work just fine...

    RTT vs. Wind

    Good stuff, everyone.

    In rig holsters?

I'm really surprised that they don't have a shell for the 226. I mean, it's only been in production for what, 30-35 years?

Stanley Base Camp Cook Set For Four

The pot is plenty big enough for a family. The pan is only big enough for one decent sized steak at a time. You might be able to squeeze two smaller steaks or chicken breasts into it, you're probably better off cooking meat on a grill if it's for more than one person.

    RTT vs. Wind

Lots of great information here. Thanks for all your input. Looks like my assumption about RTTs was correct, which is good to see. Because frankly, I'd much rather have a Turtleback than a teardrop.

Stanley Base Camp Cook Set For Four

A few months back I bought the Stanley Base Camp Cook Set For Four, and was finally able to try it out on my recent trip to the coast. The set includes a 3.7 qt pot with vented lid, a 7.25 inch frying pan, spatula, serving spoon, 4 22 oz. bowls, 4 6 inch plates, 4 sporks, a cutting board, a...

    Ka-Bar Tactical Spork

I bought a pair of these Ka-Bar Tactical Sporks a while back, thinking that even though they're obviously a novelty, they might actually be useful. Spoiler alert: they're not. They are made of plastic, and as such, the knife doesn't cut well at all. Didn't cut chicken, didn't cut steak. The...

    Stanley Mountain Vacuum Coffee System

Prior to heading out on my last trip, I picked up the Stanley Mountain Vacuum Coffee System. I wanted the 1.1 quart, but it's apparently been discontinued, and I wasn't able to find one anywhere. They are still making the 17 oz., so that's what I got. It's a really cool little unit. When...

    RTT vs. Wind

I've pretty much convinced myself I want a trailer of some type. I keep going back and forth between something like a Turtleback or a teardrop (something like this). The main reason I'm considering a teardrop is not having to worry about the wind. Last fall, we encountered an unexpected storm...

    Lost Files -- Help Needed

I'll start doing that from here out. I've been doing exactly what you thought: deleting the files from the computer, and not reformatting the card. at the beginning of each use. I've only reformatted when issues arose. Thanks for the advice. It's looking more and more likely that I'll never...

    Lost Files -- Help Needed

Good to know. I've never heard that. I'm done messing with it myself anyway, unless someone has a viable solution. I'm going to talk to our IT guy at work on Monday to see what he thinks, or even if he might be willing to give it a go himself. If not, I think I'll do as you suggest and take...

    Lost Files -- Help Needed

I've now tried 3 more file recovery programs, and still no luck.

    In rig holsters?

I also went Alien Gear, but I went with the Cloak Dock, and mounted it in my center console.

    Lost Files -- Help Needed

Short version: I need help with recovering lost photos off of an SD card. Long version: I returned from a trip a few days ago and began to transfer the photos from the card to my computer. If it matters, the card is a SanDisk Ultra 30MB/s 16GB. I plug that into a Kodak card reader, which...
