Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance this week and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Just a heads up for some of you. Lights under a vehicle are illegal in Colorado. They may not enforce it, but if you piss off the cop, it is one more ticket you can get.
I actually only had to swap the brake drums since they were integral with hub. The cost was around $100 and it took 10 minutes to swap them over. I am running 3500# axles so the drums were fairly readily available in my new lug pattern. This may not be true with the smaller axles. As for the...
There are actually two different dishes from SpaceX, the older round dish and the new flat dish. The new flat dish actually automatically locks on and tracks a satellite. Because of its shape, it can get blown around by the wind, but it tries to compensate. It is not designed to really handle...
It is good to see someone recognize that finally satellites can actually be faster than terrestrial cable. I worked on writing data traffic handling for a satellite called STPSAT6 for Northrup Grumman and NASA. You can find it on WIKI. It stood a proof of concept satellite for earth to ground...
I want to interject, the tire pressure listed on the tire is NOT the pressure you want to run. That is the absolute pressure to every be allowed.
If you air up to the MAX pressure then go out and run in the heat at highway speeds, the tire will heat up and the pressure will increase...
Let me clarify some of the roaming questions, being an aerospace engineer and working in this field, I have intimate knowledge of how this all works.. In the beginning, each Starlink satellite would talk to a subscriber as it passed overhead and directly relay the signals back to an ground...
Actually, I carried an adapter from 5x4.5" to 5x5.5" so my vehicle spare could be used on the trailer, but it just never sat right with me doing it that way.
Airing down really helps on washboard roads and to cushion the harshness of the trail. On trails with tons of big rocks, it helps traction. If traction is required that much, you better be in a group and have a winch and recovery equipment. Airing too far down without really being required...
I finished my gig in Arizona and I am moving back home to Colorado. Hope to have time to drop by and see you guys. I live three miles from the Expo in Loveland.
Just finished up converting the teardrop to run matching tires to the Jeep. It is on 35x12.5's as well. The XJ is running Ford pattern axles 5x5.5". Hope to post up some pix in a day or two.
My original offroad teardrop trailer build included 31" with 5x4.5 lug spacing tires trailer tires. I got a lot of comments on the size of the tires. The problem for me is that the Jeep has 35" tires with 5x5.5 lug spacing. It was always a hassle lugging two spares around. I finally swapped...
My standard everyday pressure is 28psi. I have forgotten to air up and run 14psi for months with no adverse issues other than a smooth ride and a bit mushy steering. My tires are 35x12.5x15s.
I started this thread because of a lot of chatter about needing cellphone access. I come from the days before cellphones.
A year or two ago there was a funny situation that arose here in Colorado. There was a lady from back east that was going through Rocky Mountain Park. The park is a...
