    Favorite Dehydrated Meals?

I don't really eat dehydrated meals, but I do love having Idahoan mashed potatoes on the side. Fast and easy to make. Delicious both morning and night.

Thank you! Happy I got it in black! One of my top 2 choices. It was either black or silver! :)

    Differential Lockers: Front or Rear?

I don't own both, but I think the rear locker is more important. Why? I always see rigs have no problems getting their front end over and obstacle, but the rear end seems to have issues. Partially because there's much less weight in the rear to help it stay planted.

What auxiliary items do you have? Where did you mount your switches?

Hello all, I'm planning on getting a light bar either hidden behind the grille, or on the roof rack. In addition, an awning light and a few more amenities. However, I was wondering what other auxiliary items do you have? Also, where did you guys opt to mount your switches? I ask because I...

    Camp Site Tips and Tricks.

Most important tip... Arrive at camp well before sunset, and be able to set up camp before dark. It SUCKS having to set up camp even if you have optimal lighting. Not to mention, you could easily get lost in the dark.

I need your Winter Camping Tips

A comfortable Balaclava for sleeping with (your nose/face will thank you in the morning), thick socks(even in a good sleeping bag, they will get cold), gloves and a few layers for shirt/pants help. Other than that.... Have a sleeping bag rated for the environment you will be sleeping in. Don't...

I am as new as you can get [emoji15]

Welcome! Pinnalces NP is pretty nice. No dirt paths to get to camp, but it's quite remote making it a nice place to camp.

    Roof rack or Hitch rack?

I plan on carrying fuel, Maxtrax, shovel, axe. Trail, hard to say at this time, but something in the sierras/mojave? 4th gen 4runner. What you've said is basically what i've been thinking about... pros and cons of both, which is exactly why I came here to ask. hahaha That said, you're making...

3rd/4th Gen 4runner or Xterra? Which would you get and why?

Good information there, but yea it does sound like it's possible only late 2003 models were affected. I did end up finding my 4runner :) Have my build thread started as well.

    How much Fuel is enough?

Hmm, not a bad rule of thumb. I'll keep that in mind now! Thanks!

    How much Fuel is enough?

Just wondering, I know that my rig can get 250-300mi range on fuel, but I know that when you're crawling through tough terrain, your fuel range drastically goes down... So how do you guys account for this? Any rule of thumb?

    Roof rack or Hitch rack?

Post this because I'm in the market for one... So.. which do you prefer? Why? I'm leaning more towards the hitch rack because its supposedly more fuel efficient, only downside, being that it can get snagged on certain obstacles....

Punishment for Death Valley Racetrack idiot

    Hollister Hills 2.11.17

I'm sort of a new OB member. Recently picked up a 4th gen 4runner, and plan to go to Hollister. Will I be fine on most obstacles? Also, will you have another meet up?

    First Aid?

I carry this while going backpacking, and it has been more than enough. Cost me about $10 total. First aid: Gauge pad, Anti-biotic, Athletic tape wrapped around hotel card (That's the whole roll, now compacted), Aspirin, band-aid, heat blanket. First-aid + fire kit: Matches(dry and wet...

Google earth, lots of driving/scouting around, asking locals who have rigs or mountain bikes. Some apps/sites have some good info too on dirt roads.

What Trail Condition Do You Fear The Most?

Night Rolling into camp at dark. My last trip to Bishop(first time being there), I got there at around 10pm. It was pitch black. I got lost. Back tracked a little Mud, downhill/uphill/flat Mud in flat, if it's deep, your rig may get stuck and without someone else there, you won't be able to...
