@Autism Family Travels That is tough question, my Discovery II was 22 years old and at 301500 km when I decided it was time. Mostly age related issues rust primarly and a top end rebuild was why I let it go.
I am very OCD on maintenance, so I keep up on everything. Other than a failed head gasket nothing else was unusual for a 20+ year old vehicle not matter what the make.
The 2015 LR4 I purchased was dealer-maintained and very low km 118000 about 73000 miles.
The issue with LR4 is timing chains and coolant pipes, both issues can be mitigated by more frequent oil changes 3000-5000 miles not 10000 and replacing the coolant every 2 years, which should be done on every truck anti-freeze starts to acidic.
I guess in my mind I would have driven my D2 to Tuk and back without a worry and that is about 5600 miles round trip.
If you keep up the maintenance, they are great, but buying used is always a dice roll. If the PO looked after it minimal risk if not it could be a money pit.
