Looking for recommendations on Eastern Sierra routes (off 395)

Planning to go camping with my relatives this summer along 395, in the Eastern Sierras. I've been to Buttermilk road for climbing and Alabama Hills, but are there any other places that you guys recommend I should check out/trails I should hit up while i'm there? I'll be going solo rig, which is...

Alabama Hills + Bishop during Summer? How is it?

Hello all, I've camped during the summer when temps were reasonable. Less than 90 degrees, and there were things to do, such as sit by a lake or go swim in a lake. But this year, I'm thinking about heading to Alabama Hills and Bishop where temps look to be 100+.. How is camping there...

How technical are the trails at the places you've listed? Will a stock 4runner make it up there?

Hmm, sounds like a great place since it's not that far from me. BTW, I just noticed your location is MV. I'm in MV as well. Hope to see you around. :)

Best/Favorite Weekend Trips (Friday night~Sunday Night) from the Bay Area?

Yea, I LOVE the Pinnacles. It was an excellent way to "practice" backpacking and configuring my setup even further since I would leave camp early in the morning and do the long loop which took from sunrise to sunset (I think it was 30 some miles?), and get back to the campgrounds...

Best/Favorite Weekend Trips (Friday night~Sunday Night) from the Bay Area?

Hello all, I figure I might as well create a thread to see what trails/camp sites they enjoy going to for a short weekend trip, from friday night to sunday night. Reason I ask is because I would like to try out some new places, but don't really have much knowledge of where to go. That...

What items do you bring that make the camp/trip experience even better?

Firebiner, i'll check that out! Thanks! I agree with your list. But try to be careful with the bottled spray bug repellent! For some reason, it fell out of my bag and got squished and cracked under all the stuff in the trunk and moving around. It leaked all over. haha

What items do you bring that make the camp/trip experience even better?

Good one! I don't have kids, so I wouldn't know. But I'll bring a deck of cards for my group of friends. haha

What items do you bring that make the camp/trip experience even better?

Hello all, Thought it would be interesting to make a thread on what others bring on their journey out or use at their camp site that make the outdoors experience a whole lot better, that someone may not normally bring. Would be interesting to learn someone else's camp "hacks". To start...

For those who have built your own body armor, I have a few questions

-I was thinking just a flat piece of metal, like a skid plate. -That makes sense, but I was just worried that bolt on's lacked some strength/weren't as strong as weld on's. -I'll go ahead and do that. But it seems like most people mount it directly to the crash beam mounts, + an...

This will be for a 4th gen 4runner. That looks good :) How long did the sliders take to design and put together?
