Is this really true?
I'd imagine, the factory bumper will have more protection for you/passengers as it'll absorb the impact since it'll collapse. Where as a steel bumper will not collapse at all and absorb the impact of the crash, making you/passengers get directly affected by the physics of...
I've been contemplating pulling the trigger on a front and rear bumper for it's aesthetics, and more importantly, the functionality for my 4th gen 4runner. But I can't really seem to see the real worth in going that route, so I figure someone who owns a front and/or rear bumper could shed some...
I own a Cobra 19 DX IV, and I've been using it without flaws with a Midland magnetic mount Antenna. I only plug in the mic and put the antenna up on top of the roof when I go wheeling, and remove it shortly after wheeling, since I park my truck in a parking structure everyday. I'm past my...
Little bit of a dumb question....
But.. Are there any alternatives to a roof basket or a swing out tire carrier?
I'm not fond of either because the hit to MPG and the cost/additional weight for a DD will be terrible respectively...
I didn't believe you at first, but googled around.... Those welds are quite scary. And it doesn't help that this happened just recently.. I couldn't find much on their history, or how it's doing now..
Do you know if they hired a new welder(if the shop owner himself doesn't weld)?
Your list looks good. It kind of looks similar to what I was going to order, but I stuck with a magnetic antenna for ease of removal and all..
That said, I recommend you get an "add-a-fuse" instead of doing the cigarette lighter, as it'll look more discrete.. Also, you aren't loosing 1 port...
Honestly, I just went CB. I know HAM is what I need, but so far, the CB has been extremely useful, especially in group outings. That said, I do plan to get HAM radio as soon.... that is, if I have enough time to go out solo.
I am planning to order a pair of Trail gear sliders for my 4th gen 4runner. Due to the fact that they need to be welded on, and I don't have a welder, does anyone know of a fab shop(welder), who can weld these sliders on once I order them, and get them, in the Sacramento area?
Thanks alot!
My only complaints are 1) It's costly.. Won't I still need an antenna? 2) I've read that these aren't as great as a stand alone mic + box.
What kind of mount are you running on your FJ that I see in your avatar?
So my confusion is this.. Does material of the antenna really make a difference? From what i've gathered, the materials do matter and height also factored in. But materials could totally dimish the distance..
If height is everything, then a mag mount would technically be better than a...
Wow.. Sorry to hear that happened..
I actually opted to fix the car my self and get parts from pick n pull.. I figure.. The cars going to get damaged anyways when I hit the trails so I don't need a 10/10 job.
Hello all,
I am planning to get a CB as I am going into remote locations that aren't picking up any cell signal. Not to mention, it would be nice to have when I go out on group outings. However, I don't plan on using it so often, so i'd like to make it A) easy to remove and put back B)...
That's not a bad idea at all. How long are the straps? Unlike your tahoe, my 4runner has a sliding up/down glass, so I'd need to loop the straps over the top of the hatch.
