Exactly! But I'm about to move further south in Currituck, Moyock is developing too much for my tastes and I work in Kill Devil Hills.
I recently sold my 98 Dodge Ram :disrelieved: I'm going to be without a truck for a little while :disrelieved::disrelieved:. My plan is to rough it for 2 years...
I know exactly where you're at there. I live in Moyock, you're smart if you choose to cross the state line to NC. Hope to see you around one day. I'll be on the look out for your awesome truck.
I'm looking at a few mods right now and many come with a bare option or powder coating option. I'm trying to keep the budget in check and was wondering what people more knowledgeable than myself think. For things like bumpers, racks, etc that can be bought with a bare metal option, is using...
I'll be following this thread.
Overlanding can break the bank quickly. We see some incredible setups on this site and begin drooling. @The other Sean mentioned patience. That is huge. Not jump out and buy the newest and coolest thing.
Some things I'm doing as I get started again are:
Cheaper...
I'm actually doing an insane trip. I was already heading to Maine for a week. But my mother lives in SC where it will be 100% so my son has convinced me to leave Maine Sunday (a day early), drive 16 hours to my mothers in SC to see the eclipse, then go home Tuesday. I hope the weather holds out.
I have a question for those who don't get out as frequently as they want, but have built up a nice rig; do you remove items between adventures and if so what? I'm not asking about things intended to be removed I'm thinking along the lines of heavier items that aren't needed for day to day...
I'm following this guy on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/tinyoverlander/) who is doing a similar trip. I don't know if he is a member here or not, but I like his posts.
Raul, I like your thought process and that you have your priorities in the right place. Overlanding will always be there and if you enjoy the camping the scouts will give you plenty of opportunities for awesome camping memories with your son.
I'm sort of on the other side of where you are...
Given those strict 2 choices I choose boondock. I have some great memories of "primitive" camping with the scouts and that brings back some memories.
I avoid commercial campgrounds like KOA like the plague. Like others have said I do not want to be right on top of others. I want room for...
I've been lurking around for quite a while. Now just jumping in.
I use to overland, before I knew that term in my 98 Ram 1500. I just called it going out on an adventure.
But now that the kiddos are older I really want to get back into it. Hopefully my son will want to join my on some trips...
I have a pretty good amount of experience in owning, creating, developing and hosting websites. I currently own about a dozen sites for various purposes.
Someone mentioned WordPress. That is a fantastic tool super user friendly, free and there are a ton of things you can add to it to make it...
Here are my 4 legged traveling companions who are both uber - eager to go anywhere.
Colt my Beagle we rescued 3 years ago
Memphis my Sheppard - Golden Retriever mix we rescued last year.
I love taking them along and they earn their keep too. On more than one occasion they have...
