Since we are not allowed to camp right now (our firsr trip of regular camping season was this weekend) I decided to spend some time hiking this weekend.
Over the 3 day weekend I got in about 15 miles.
But my favorite excursion was finally taking advantage of the newest section of Moshannon...
@Vern629 above you said you were in the Tuscarora. Do they have motorized camping sites?
Are there many areas to drive off road for any distance.
I just downloaded the public use map...did not see any info on camping other than primitive for hiking.
Since I connected Rothrock and Bald Eagle...
We had planned to disperse campnthis weekend and then regular camping season starts 10April. Guess our yearly tradition is going to be changed this year.
Staying home, washing hands, eating food and enjoying our stockpile of tp.
Just glad to hear the sleet hitting the roof here at work. Makes it a little easier to take the stay home orders in stride. The beautiful weather over the weekend though...that was nice, but depressing for the current situation
They were only closed for 2 weeks. First day for camping was April 10th. Now got to wait til May...probably longer.
We camp every weekend from April to November...so this really changes our plans.
I seen more people hiking this weekend than ever...so social distancing isn't working out well...
I have a 99 RAM 2500 with the V10. You picked an awesome motor for your rig.
It will pull out on the flat in 4th gear. You can put it in first and climb all day never touching the gas. And that is in 2wd.
Put it in 4 lo and man, power for anything.
Plus it really likes to cruise in 5th...
We were gonna hit paddy mountain but everything that day was headed in the wrong direction.
Probably had I used 4lo and 1st gear poe paddy probably would have been more enjoyable. It wasn't difficult at all. Just annoying as all I did was apply more brake.
It sure was bumpy...but I also was...
@riss800 I am booked up the next couple weekends. But, if you do decide to come to the Forest for sure let me know.
I wish we could have went through Henstep. Good thing I had the map with me. Cause it starts in the direction I was going, but then curves and continues the opposite way.
My...

Your truck is awesome. That is the one that started it all. Today's Powerwagon trucks are cool...but yours is the real thing.
Awesome setup too. Looks like the exact amount of everything.
Yes. We were looking at the campsites #69 and #70. I saw Henstep...but it went in the opposite direction we were planning to go. We got a text message that we were needed home by 1730...so we had to shorten the trip.
We had planned to see campsites #22 to 29 and 30 and 32, but when we...
I was very surprised to see the cabin on Longwell Draft Rd. Only one time did my mirror actually hit the trunk of a tree. We were going slow enough that it just let us go by.
Everything was easy to navigate, and I could see plenty of places to squeeze 2 vehicles... But Poe Paddy Dr was a bit...
The public use map for the most part is very useful. So far I only found that and one other issue. Neither were a nuisance.
We got lots of notes on ours already.
It is nice knowing I can drive 30 mins from home...go into Rothrock and then spend an entire day driving through there, ending up...
