I had the Coopers and now have the DC Extreme Country on my Jeep and have to say that the Coopers were better. They lasted significantly longer (almost 80k miles with a 5 tire rotation vs. 37k on the DCs today and I might just get another 10 or 15k out of them).
Even though both were formally...
Good choice and welcome to the Jeep family.
I am on my second Jeep and drive these puppies for over 16 years now (a YJ in the 90s for 8 years and a JKU since 2011 that both of my boys learned to drive stick on as well). No major problems with any of them and I just did some minor mods, like...
Nice teardrop trailer :-)
We bought one in 2012 that needs some love (read: fix water damage), but we've towed it from VA to UT, NV, AZ and a lot of states in between, New England and in our closer neighborhood - MD, VA, PA.
We used our 16 year old Jack Wolfskin tent this summer and while it worked well (as always) and a new Exped mattress was an upgrade, I realized that I am too old now for a trecking tent. I don't want to crawl into the tent of not needed, and am looking now into a RTT for next year ...
Exped Megamat 10 last summer. Pricy (a lot - got it when REI had a 25% off sale, but still...) but good. I slept like a baby on it and intend to keep it when the next purchase will be a RTT for the truck.
We have the Exped Megamat 10 for two people. REI had them on sale, so we paid 25% less and ended up in the same price range that you are. We took them for our summer trip and love it.
This is very interesting, especially after having seen the old BBC documentary and read Tim's book. Since we are in the 21st century they also have a YouTube channel and Instagram :-)
We bought the Duo version of the MegaMat during the Memorial Day sale and are using it currently on our road trip (I am actually on it while I'm typing this :-). i was curious if it was just hype for an overpriced product or if the quality is as good as others have said, and I'm happy to report...
Yes, the MegaMat. It is currently "laying around" for the initial inflation :-)
Everyone I spoke with had the same positive reaction as you, so I am looking forward to using it ...
Welcome.
How do you like your Basecamp? I started looking into it and was wondering if it is a good choice - given the price it seems like a long-term commitment and one wants to "pamper" it.
What are your experiences? How does it hold up when it gets a bit rougher?
We bought an Exped 10 Double mattress which is currently 25% off. At a regular
price of almost $400 this is quite a bit of saving. And all the friends we spoke with, who have tried other alternatives before they bought their Exped, said unisono that we should get "that one" and not another...
I have a rectangular LL Bean 20 degrees sleeping bag that I can recommend. They don't sell the exact model anymore it seems, but you might want to check these here:
- Deluxe Flannel-Lined Camp Bag, 30° Extra-Large
- Heritage Maine Guide Deluxe Sleeping Bag, 20°
Mine is more like the first one...
