I run the KO2's and I've been happy with them, although they wear a little faster than I thought they would. I really liked that they were Mountain Snowflake rated meaning they met the industry standard for winter tires. However, now with the new General Grabber X3's out, I'm considering...
Thanks!
I found it on InstaGram, it's overland_jeeps that puts it out and you can get one by e-mail to overlandjeepsorg@gmail.com and see if he has any. Looks like it was posted over the summer but he's pretty active so I'm guessing he's around.
An overland bound boot camp would be kind of neat, do it in some sort of military style. One that says "Overlanding is vehicle dependent travel. Nothing else." would be cool. And just some basic ones like "get outdoors", "go explore", or something along those lines would be cool too. I'm...
I'm a patch addict, so I wouldn't mind seeing some additional patches hit the store. There is a woeful selection of overland patches out there and I think it would be cool to have some additional ones.
I have them, but have never had to use them myself. I always carry them during the winter though and I've helped a handful of people get out of a snow banks or ditches with them. I fully trust their usability and now that I'm getting into more overlanding, I'm sure they'll come in handy.
I have an Estwing Sportsmen Axe. I prefer to have tools that I'm going to rely on not be made in China since in my experience I've had a greater fail rate with those (tools I don't rely on heavily come from Harbor Freight). But the Estwing is small and can fit behind my rear seats. One of these...
I had a Honda Passport as a winter vehicle when I had my Volvo and it wasn't doing so hot. I needed something that could cope with the Michigan winters and still be comfortable enough to live with everyday. I test drove an Xterra and didn't like anything about it and I wanted to avoid a Jeep...
Happy to help, looking forward to seeing the suspension setup on your rig too.
As for wheels, since you want 17", I'd recommend contacting SCS Performance and seeing what they have that will work for you. They specialize in Toyota wheels and if I didn't have the TRD wheels on my truck, I'd...
For something a little different to consider, you can get the Grand Cherokee with the 3.0 V6 diesel that puts out a nice 420 lb.ft. of torque and they are nice enough inside to live with everyday. The suspension might be a concern with that though since it's rated for 2,000-ish lbs for payload...
So if you want some kid friendly ones, I suggest going here: http://cubcubs.com/collections/badges
For camping/overlanding many of the overland lifestlye website sell patches with their logos on it. Flockfam and Motus both have overlanding ones but you need to find them for sale from a...
The Maxtrax mounting pins don't fit, however I've seen most people use some angled aluminum and make some brackets for them.
I'm going to do something like this:
So while I really like my Softtopper, I wanted something more water tight since I'm going to start building my rig up more to do overland travel that's more off the beaten path. I met a nice dude on the TacomWorld forums that had recently picked up a new truck and was selling his Leer 100R in...
My wife and I have been talking about getting her a RAV4 but I was concerned about it's ruggedness. Looks like I had nothing to be concerned about.
Oh and props for cutting a hole in the side of a brand new rig for that snorkel.
