Once I get my CB up and running, I might consider a dual antenna setup for some more range in front and back of truck. Plus, I agree, more antennas are always cool.
Thanks! Just using Velcro on the back of the patches. It sticks to the headliner surprisingly well.
I like to think that there is a logical explanation of everything, but I've had enough weird stuff happen when I've been alone and off the beaten to question logic. I've seen, or at least my mind tells me that I've seen, strange lights in the sky and heard weird noises in the bush. This has...
Man it has been a while since I've update this. Not much happened over the winter, but over the past couple of days the weather has been relatively warm and nice so it allowed me to work on some stuff. First, here's a couple of shots from over the winter. The one is when I was in Ludington for...
A little more updated picture of my rig on the beach up in Ludington, MI. I was there for the past two weeks on a business trip and figured since it was almost 60 degrees out in December I should head over to the beach.
MaxTrax, tow straps, and shackles so I can attempt to pull myself out if I end up in a snow bank or a ditch. If I am truly stuck though, I do carry some emergency space blankets, a flashlight, a windup radio that has the weather service on it, and a small tin cup that I could melt snow in to...
I was hoping we could get a Michigan sub-form going. I know the overlanding scene here is pretty weak, but I'm hoping someone might stumble in here that shares the same interests and is from the Mitten.
I have an Ultragauge in my truck and I mounted it above the rear view mirror. I don't know much about the Scangauge but everything I read on the Tacoma forums said the Ultra was the way to go when it came to information that was displayed and the cost. It's a little finicky to get setup, but...
Most 2015's have the wiring already ran for the mirror, all you have to do is take off the overhead console and look. There should be a 14 pin connector taped to the headliner near the top of the windshield. All you need to do is plug the mirror in, calibrate the compass by driving around in...
I saw that the other day, I'm pretty geeked to see what they come up with.
Thanks to your thread though I saw that I could call the number to get a license plate frame. I love stuff like that and hopefully they send me one.
Thanks guys!
Did a couple more things to the truck:
Added a GenTex auto dimming mirror with built in compass and HomeLink. The compass wasn't really needed, but having HomeLink and auto dimming is totally worth it. I also hooked up my Ultra Gauge MX with the mirror too. I'm still playing...
Please do! I'll buy them all!
I use heavy duty Velcro on the back of mine that I picked up at Home Depot, I think it's made for hold fire extinguishers (at least that's what the package shows) and I've yet to lose a patch.
Is anyone here into collecting morale patches? I've been doing it for a little while now and have put some of my favorites on my headliner of my truck. I was really happy when I found out I could get an Overland Bound patch with my member number on it too!
Toyota Tacoma. I liked the famed reliability, good aftermarket support, and the resale value. I had driven the Colorado and didn't mind it, but for the money I liked the Tacoma better. Also I didn't really want a full-sized truck, but with the double cab and long bed, it might as well be full...
I'm running a set of 265/75/16 BFGoodrich KO2's. So far they haven't failed me in the mud, gravel, deep snow, or on dry pavement. They aren't stellar on wet pavement, but I wasn't really expecting them to be. Treadwear seems to be decent on them too, although I only have about 16,000 miles on...
Before I was living the 4x4 life, I used to came out of the back of my Focus hatchback. Never went anywhere crazy with it, but it was good enough to get me back into a field at my buddy's cabin.
I always forget to take a picture when I'm camping with the Tacoma.
