    CDN M101 in Vegas

The Canadian M101 military is a really robust trailer with lots of build potential. There is a Yahoo discussion group that was a great source of information, I don't see many questions on it now, but it is still a very good read, see https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/M101CDN/info

Rust - how to stop it from spreading

The topic of "rust" is a relative term in that if you own a rust free vehicle you want to keep it at bay, but if you have a vehicle with rust, then how much rust can be anything from rusted floors, hood, doors, rockers, to only surface rust on your frame. It all depends on where you live and how...

    RAUSCH CREEK 01/13/2017 - 01/13/2018

This sounds like fun, thanks for setting this up. At this time I have tentative plans to be out of town, AND I don't drive my FJ60 Land Cruiser on salted roads (I've fought rust for the 28 years I've owned it and cannot risk it anymore), but if I can join up I will. Again, thanks.

Do you take time to leave it better than you found it?

Yea, we bring out more trash than we generate when we leave our campsites and we leave them pristine. BUT we are seeing many many campsites that are left free of trash. We as a nation (US) have come a long way, look at photos of our roads in the '50s, they were strewn with trash. No more.

    What's on your roof?

Dismissive? Well I know where you live :-) Sorta near me as it turns out! Would you have happened to be on a OB East event in VT about 6 weeks ago? There was a very nicely set up Subaru on that ride, very impressive what one can do, and what can be done, with a Subaru. And the build quality...

    Trans-America Trail

Hi Rochester, NY Yes you should be fine, but again, it all depends on if it is raining as that will be a game changer. BUT you can always stop forward motion and get a hotel until it clears. And rain will swell the water crossings, as well as making it far more muddy. So go for it, and update us...

    Trans-America Trail

Two friends and I rode the TAT 3 years ago on mid '80s BMW R80G/S adventure motorcycles; while on the TAT I called my wife and told her the two of us should drive the TAT in our '86 FJ60 Land Cruiser, because it is just such a fabulous way to see the US and it is beautiful, which we later did...

Yea, good point, RTTs. One reason I don't have one is higher CG.

    What's on your roof?

TOP HEAVY LOADS/ROOF RACKS/HIGH CENTER OF GRAVITY: Not sure if this is the correct location for this topic but here we go: I have cruised around this excellent site and see a great many roof racks pictured, with BIG loads. I own a roof rack and purchased it because it is made of aluminum, so if...

    99 Tacoma vs FJ60?

We have had our 60 for 29 years and each time it has an issue, we upgrade it, and now we have a very capable off road rig. Although it how has 200K on it, it has all been refurbished. So ARB rear, limited slip front, Thomas air compressor for air horn ARB and airing up, lifted, 33s on aluminum...

    Let's air it out

I have had a Thomas oil-less compressor for maybe 20 years, so no oil changes required. I think it is 100% duty cycle. I rebuilt it finally after 20+ years, runs great! Mounted beside the engine, on the frame, in my FJ60. Runs my air horn, ARB locker and airs up tires fast.

    ARB fridge install?

I like Odyssey batteries, read up about them. Not the cheapest, but they last the longest, so cheaper in the long run. Stuff the biggest one you can into your vehicle. And when determining which one to purchase, all things being equal, a battery twice the weight of another battery will have...

    Steel Wheel vs. Alloy Wheel

On my FJ60 I've run alloy wheels for maybe 20 years; I did bend one a bit but it did not break. They are by Weld Racing and I powder coated them clear so they stay shiney.

    Dual Battery System

I installed a National Luna System and it is not reliable, the cable that attaches to the spiraling light display, which shows your degree of charge, comes loose. Overland Journal, summer issue, rated many dual battery system controllers and noted the same weakness. Editor's Choice was the...
