    If you could start over...

I don’t disagree at all with the above statement. Makes great sense to me. we went with a 4Runner, and love it. However, if I were doing it again I would pony up and buy the Lexus GX over the 4Runner for the extra power. It’s worth it after you start adding weight. Or maybe a good used land...

    Finding Trails

I found this section to be amazingly helpful for us. https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/forums/overland-bound-routes-downloadable.29/

    Finding Trails

The best thing I found was research through a site like OB. Many trails listed in the overland routes section. Which showed me that there are trails in nearly any area. Which then led me into using different mapping apps, I chose gaia gps. With it in the premium version is shows the USFS roads...

    33’s on spare

I have a 285/70/17 on the factory spare wheel under our 5th gen. It’s tight, and hangs down a little low since it’s wider than the factory 265, but it fits. And leaves the hitch useable.

    Why do you like OB?

I found OB while researching for places to go locally. I hadn’t been on forums in over 10 years due to the childish behavior you typically see in them. I stalked around for awhile, then joined the forum, asked my question, and got honest, polite answers. After that, I decided it was a place...

    Essential Solo Overland Recovery Gear

For me, the top five are first aid kit, winch with accessories, some type of comms (with handhelds to keep in touch if I have to walk out to find someone while wife stays behind), shovel, and food/water. that being said, I typically over pack just in case. But we never go out without that. I...

    Oklahoma overlanders where ya at?

I haven’t been around here a whole lot myself lately. Lake weekends have been winning the battle for my time lol. Idk what’s allowed/not allowed, but the Altus-lugert wildlife management area had some little trails I saw when we did that section of the OAT. Only time I’ve been in your neck of...

What’s the best 4Runner for overlanding?

We chose the TRD off road trim so that we got the rear locker, non KDSS because I didn’t want the extra expense since I swapped out suspension anyways. I agree, SR5 is the most cost effective if the locker doesn’t matter to you though. And I have never needed my locker yet... for what that’s...

    Oklahoma overlanders where ya at?

Probably so. We have been gone somewhere the last 5 weekends. It’s been fun! But we are tired. Lol

    Oklahoma overlanders where ya at?

Wish we were closer, not sure the wife wants to go for that far of a drive on our weekend we planned to stay home. Hahahaha

    US Midwest Arkansas Dragon Trip

I wish we could make this one with you. We are headed to western Oklahoma for a wedding this weekend though.

    Oklahoma overlanders where ya at?

Welcome! that area has a section of the Oklahoma adventure trail running through it, but that’s about all I am aware of down there for overlanding.

    Hey SW Region

I’ve started looking at the molle panels myself. I thought the drawers would take care of storage, but it seems I never have enough. I think my next big mod is going to be pulling out the backseats, and making storage there. We don’t use the 2nd row, so storage is more valuable than the...

    Hey SW Region

If you’re like us. Every time we make a mod, we then see a better way and want to redo it or add to it. Hahahaha

    Oklahoma overlanders where ya at?

from the areas that you listed, Poteau will be the best for overlanding/off-roading/camping. It’s near the Ouachita National. Forest. As well as, it’s not too far from the Ozark National Forest. That is really the only overlanding areas in OK. We have the Oklahoma Adventure Trail, but the...

    Think about this GMRS

I own the V1, it’s a great little radio for the price. I bought it as my starter radio. I use my midland mxt275 in the 4Runner, and our midland gxt1000 handhelds more though. They are just easier to explain how they work to others (we use them at the lake for backing in camper/when leaving camp...

Anyone have experience with East Coast Gear Supply?

thanks for the input. Everything I read online says they are the great to both work with, and quality. But, I like to hear from people I know haven’t been influenced before trusting online reviews only. Sounds like I’ll be calling them when I get some spare change. Lol

Anyone have experience with East Coast Gear Supply?

We have a 5th gen 4Runner on 285/70/17’s. Since swapping to larger tires, it shifts down a lot now. Plus, with the camper when we go to the lake the tranny temp climbs higher than I like. I don’t use overdrive with the camper at all. Rarely even when I have the kayaks on top even after...

    Rig Photos

Took this one a couple weeks ago at lake wister, Oklahoma. We had just finished that leg of the Oklahoma Adventure Trail with a couple other OB’ers
