Years ago I used to run the Canadian River bottom, all on sand. we had to use @Boostpowered method. It works well when needed, and that’s what I consider a running start. But I also agree that it’s not my go to option out of the gate. But sometimes you don’t have a choice...
Just realized I hadn’t ever said hi in this thread. Here is our 4runner
2018 TRD off road
Billstein 6112/5100
Wheelers t13 rear coil
700lb front coils
Shrockworks bumper
Warn VR10 winch
Home made bed/drawer system
Falken wildpeak M/T 285/70/17
working on clear vinyl wrap and comms at the moment.
I agree with the kinetic ropes being the way to go. Definitely not cheaper option, but they work much better
I’ll edit to add a little reasoning on my choice...
kinetic ropes will pull you out of a suction/stuck spot without the harsh jerk that would happen with a typical strap. That’s how...
thats exactly where we are in it, seeing what works and what doesn’t for us. It’s easy to get wrapped up in what is “needed” before you even know. I have done that many times in the past.
wanting a full size bed really limited my storage options, but it makes it comfy, and that keeps us both...
you’re assuming correctly. As for now, we are using a small-ish soft sided cooler that I just sit on it/wedge where it fits. Not perfect, but it’s best I can come up with at the moment for it.
my drawers hold most our small stuff/recovery gear
for the moment, my plan is to use my Thule cargo...
Test fit the mattress and put a sheet over it. Still have to build a true cover, but this will make it useable for now
foam factory did a great job making it to my exact specs. If anyone ever needs a custom foam mattress. I highly recommend them.
I can’t speak for super lift kits, as I haven’t installed that brand in over a decade.
However, the airlift products that I’ve used/installed have seemed to work well. I put a couple sets on some titan xd diesels (one of which is lifted) about 1 1/2 years ago, and the customer is still happy...
Welcome,
vehicle choice is a tough one. Do lots of research, and drive multiple before deciding is my recommendation. We love our 4Runner, but everyone’s wants/needs are different, so just make sure whatever you pick works for you.
This one is on the old highway 99 near wolf, ok over little river. The county demolished the first 15 or so feet not seen here to keep people off it. The stringers aren’t touching bank hardly, it will be gone one day I’m sure
This is that same bridge. It’s one of my favorites. I have spent many days under it. Those days were way back before soggy bottoms existed though. Lol
Ironically, I now live relatively close to it and haven’t been back over there in a long time
I have a love for the old abandoned bridges that are left behind. We find quite a few on our drives out to places around here
let’s see some of them!
I’ll start us off with the Carpenter’s Bluff Bridge over the Red River on the Texas/OK state line
We decided to go do some of the OAT this last Saturday. I have been wanting to do it since I discovered it, which coincidentally is how I found OB.
we didn’t follow the preset “legs” of it per say, we started close to the house south of sulfur, ok then headed east toward Hugo before turning...
A day out on a trail is never a failure IMHO. It may not be how you planned it, but at least you got out there. Next time will be easier, and you learn something every time you go out. Even if it’s to check the map every time.
as far as scratches, I am wrapping our 4Runner with clear vinyl to...
Yeah. That thought crossed my mind already too.
another benefit is if I move the GMRS to fender it will clear my carport. So I think add a second coax, and mount to fender is where I’m headed.
i agree totally on that. I didn’t think about it the night I ran power wires though. One radio at a time until a secondary fuse block will be my safety measure for now.
that’s actually my plan. As well as secondary battery to power it all. Just haven’t gotten there yet, lol
