On our 4Runner which is pretty similar to your taco, I did 285/70/17 for availability when I need one.
I will admit though, power loss was real, and I am now looking into a regear to get my tranny temps back down and help when pulling the camper to the lake. So, it truly is a trade off. My...
I’m interested as long as I can line my schedule up with it once it’s official.
the southeastern part of the state is by far the most scenic from what we have traveled. There’s the broken bow/talihina area that has the ouachita NF surrounding it. I did a weekend run with a couple other OB’ers...
As annoying as it may be, I would try another shop to balance them. Basing that on the fact that it improved, meaning that they did something different than before. Or their machine may need calibration.
You could also have them check the road force measurement on them to see if it reads out...
My experience with aftermarket wheels and heavy tires is that sometimes they take a lot of weight to get down to 0.00oz on each side. But as long as it gets there, and has no vibration there’s typically not a lot else you can do.
road force matching helps, but only if the tire has a stiff spot...

Nope, talking to the wife what we remember is you were sitting at a stop sign, waiting to turn (left I think), Steven was unlocking his hubs and she grabbed the shot. We think it was near the end. I am pretty sure it was after the bridge that was curved while going over the river. If that helps...
That bear pic was exactly why we spun around so quick to grab it. Those are hard to get without the bear running away in the shot. Hahahaha
I unfortunately didn’t record any tracks, I looked on my google tracking data. But didn’t see it earlier. I truly just dropped in the back and followed...
Thanks!
I don’t remember the location though, the wife grabbed that one out the window as we passed it. I’ll look and see if the photo has a gps tag imbedded when I get home today.
For what it’s worth, I fight a similar battle. We haul 2 kayaks, and I haven’t found a compromise to haul them and haul gear on the roof yet. I have seen some with the kayak on one side, gear on the other. But if you don’t have bars on top of your basket to mount the cradles to, it really only...
For me, minimum ground clearance is 9-10 inches. Years ago, we had a crosstrek. It was great, but when loaded down for a trip in Colorado it bumped the ground a few times on an easy trail. We now drive a 4Runner with a small leveling kit. We still bottom out once in awhile. But that’s on...
it was a great trip! here are a few photos that we got, we have some video too. i'm still going through it right now, hopefully i'll have it up soon. i have some video of the "tunnel through the forest" lol
I bought a pack of these to have if I need them. Not sure if I bought this exact one, but very similar. Years ago, I used this style when doing car audio installs and never had any issues.
