Comparison of Lightweight Power Stations for Overlanding

120v inverters and cigarette style plugs absolutely have a place in the market if only because it is common. Converting 12v to 110 is inefficient, but if that's what it takes I get it and I'm not slagging anyone for using it if it works for them. I'm just saying I wish there were more, higher...

Comparison of Lightweight Power Stations for Overlanding

Anderson , USB C, USB A, SAE, BMS,gauges, solar charge controller so yes "just a battery" like every other power station. Cigarette lighter plug ins while versatile, are probably the least reliable electrical connection known to man. They range in quality from poor to ridiculously shitty. SAE is...

Comparison of Lightweight Power Stations for Overlanding

Not sure what is confusing, a 12 volt power station with all of the features of any other power station absent the inverter to provide 120v. Using instead the space and cost to increase capacity rather than provide a utility I don't find useful.

Comparison of Lightweight Power Stations for Overlanding

I wish there were more high capacity units built without an inverter. I would rather the additional weight/space/expense be dedicated to storage, I (maybe not you, but I) have no need for 120v. I also (on my unrelated wish list) wish that manufacturers would quit with the cigarette lighter...

Is the Overlanding community killing itself

I know people who hog hunt with spears, knives and dogs. I know people who hunt with bows. I know people who hunt with muzzle loaders. I know people who hunt with modern center fire rifles and/or handguns. I know people who hunt with one off custom firearms . They are all hunters, all will...

Off road-ability and survivability of $20k teardrops

I would say you should familiarize yourself with materials and build techniques used commonly in teardrop/ squaredrop trailers and then project the service life of them based on that information and your projected use. What percentage of construction is wood or other organic material that will...

Camp Poop (sorry for the bluntness but I want to know)

When I look at one of those my imagination instantly leaps to its failure under load and the subsequent effects, LOL I just can't get past it.

Is the Overlanding community killing itself

The statement "Nobody needs" is an assertion that you (or anyone in this case) possesses the all encompassing knowledge and authority to determine the needs of all other people. I suppose it is possible a person could be so full of themselves that they actually believe that, but they would still...

Is the Overlanding community killing itself

I'm about 99.9996% certain that "bear" (in the case of Mammoth ELE marketing) is a euphemism for "feral human".

Is the Overlanding community killing itself

I'm speaking of the individual and any possible degree of validity their opinion may hold when they make all encompassing statements like "nobody needs". I just lived 3 years of my life with various individuals and entities attempting to define what I "need or don't need" and I've had quite...

Is the Overlanding community killing itself

When I see someone say "Nobody needs" or some version of that I automatically discount anything else they have to say and make a good effort to avoid further contact with them so I don't have to burn their little soapbox down. I looked at the Mammoth trailers at Expo West, not for me but not...

    Dynamic Balancing Beads

They don't "balance" anything, they function like a viscous dampener. If the tire is round, correctly mounted and falls within the prescribed average degree of imbalance Equal or Counteract, or whatever will dampen perceived vibration to acceptable levels in most cases. When you accelerate or...

    Overlanding with an EV

    Overlanding with an EV

None for me thanks, but this is where using a loosely defined term like "overlanding" will make all the difference in applicability. My style of "overlanding" which has in some cases found me sweating availability of gasoline rejects EV by nature. Charging stations won't ever be there. Someone...

    Jeep Water Fording Ability

Jeep says I believe 29" and that is to electronics in stock ride height. 29" is a lot of water, probably more than you should be fording if you can avoid it and definitely too much if it is running swiftly
