    Hello from indiana!!!

I always love seeing full size rigs. My wife has an Outback that is our main vehicle, but I've been known to get my Silverado in some places it shouldn't go. I've been aware of the Trans America Trail for a while but have been resisting doing any actual research for fear of it taking over all my...

    Newb from Indiana

Former hoosier. I lived in Lebanon for a few years, both my brothers are Purdue alumni and stuck around Lafayette for a while. Never made it to your neck of the woods much though. Welcome to the forum. There is some good trails/trips in Upper Michigan, and the Trans Wisconsin Trail that are...

    Howdy, from Saint Louis

Welcome! I'm not a big Jeep fan really, but I love seeing these things built up. I may take a crack at one if I can find a cheapo beater some time. Looking forward to seeing the progress. I left St. Louis when I was pretty young, but born there, and will always have a soft spot for the Blues and...

    New Guy on the block!

Awesome looking rig man. Welcome, and thank you for serving. Can't wait to see where the build goes.

    Wisconsin members, check in...

Yeah we are hitting that trail in June, not so much worried about that one, I just want to know what our Outback and my Silverado can do now vs. after some suspension work. That and I really just want to get off the pavement.

Condiments.. How and what do you pack?

Depends on what all is on the meal plan. Frank's RedHot is an absolute necessity, and I usually just toss the bottle in the fridge in the cooler, haven't had an issue yet. Mustard is one of the only other things we take on most trips, because brats are usually involved at some point. I have been...

    Trail kit

I always have a small survival bag, and a small but fairly complete tool kit in all our cars. I don't carry food or water usually (in WI it gets too cold for too long), but I always have a water filter and a metal bottle so I can acquire water if need be. I drive 60+ miles a day, and the...

    Wrenching on their own rigs?

Did some fluid checks and top off yesterday, as well as cleaning the Outback in and out. Put the missing sway bar link on my Silverado, and swapped the other one for good measure. Pulled a plastic jug and about 10 pounds of dirt out of the skid plate on the truck. I need to get that thing on a...

    Alaska Highway

I've always wanted to visit Alaska, and until we discovered overlanding, it always seemed like a pretty daunting task. The more we get into this stuff, the easier it seems, and the more interested my wife is in going. At this point it's probably a few years off, but it's a bucket list thing for...

The official OTO "Ozark Trail Overland" gear thread!

I'll add to this, as I've used a metric ton of OT stuff over the years, sometimes out of necessity (couldn't afford better), some out of choice just to see how it went. I use 2 of the 30oz tumblers every day for coffee. I have forgotten about my cup, and come back 7 hours later and it was...

    Wisconsin members, check in...

Does anyone know of a place one can get off road in WI, even just a day trip, to test out a rig? I would like to test the abilities of a few vehicles before and after some mods. I know there are some fire lanes a few hours north, but even those are pretty tame for the most part. Thoughts...

    Dedicated Trash Runs

I would love to do this, but we don't really have off road trails in my area. I have a pickup that could haul a lot of crap out on a day run. I'll settle for my state park hiking trails for now. Good on you for making a difference!

This could be a great campfire topic of conversation.

*adds spaghettios to pack list* I really can't wait to try this out, be it as a joke or revenge on similar campers.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Found out my truck is missing a sway bar link. Looks like it’s been gone for a bit. Took a few shots on my way to work yesterday. Ordered a few hindred bucks worth of maintenance parts. Hard to upgrade when I keep having to pour cash into boring stuff like O2 and MAF sensors on my daily.

    Hello from Lexington, Kentucky

Welcome ot OB! Two of my favorite trucks right there. I’m hoping to trade my Silverado for a Land Cruiser at some point. I lived in Lexington for a while when I was a kid, still one of the most beautiful areas I’ve been to. Maybe I’ll have to try and make it down there for an event some time.

    Now what?

Welcome, love the FJs, I really have to get in one and see if I like driving it as much as drooling on them. I’ve been on a number of forums, but never seem to stick around most of them. This place is full of great people and great info, I’m sure you’ll dig it.

    Round the world fuel prices

Northeast Wisconsin, averages about $2.50 a gallon right now. My Silverado gets 12-13 mpg, our Outback around 23-25.

    Camp security

Situational awareness, locking everything I can, and a healthy compliment of freedom dispensers. My friends Sig, Smith, Wesson, and Mossberg are usually close by between my wife and I. Here's hoping they will never be employed, but they have deterred a few situations in my non camp life. When we...
