I have a thunk with kit that goes in the truck when I do a short trail. The kit includes my recovery gear, some water and snacks, a rain jacket and some work gloves.

Do you carry some stuff for a quick day trip off the beaten track?

Yep, we do the same for day trips, basically we bring just enough stuff that we could minimally camp out if required. We always toss in an Aqua-Tainer of water as well, which is absolutely critical for emergencies here in the desert. Our vehicle is also permanently packed with camo netting, paracord, rope, saw, lifestraw, and some very minimal backpack camping gear. We have an awning on the jeep, but the camo netting is also a great way to string up some shade or make a quick lean-to.

Always grab some kind of Go Bag, co2 tank, recovery bag, hi-lift lives on the roof,CB, some type of Shooti’ Iron, snacks, water & jacket, boots & gloves if just heading out for the day Maps are good too. Flashlights

I always have a small survival bag, and a small but fairly complete tool kit in all our cars. I don't carry food or water usually (in WI it gets too cold for too long), but I always have a water filter and a metal bottle so I can acquire water if need be.

I drive 60+ miles a day, and the weather changes quick here. Never know if I'll get stuck somewhere. Between that and gigs on Bob's road in the middle of nowhere WI I try to be prepared.

All that is just a long way of saying, yep, I always have some gear.

I carry recovery gear, basic food/water, tools, simple camp gear, etc everyday. You never know when you'll need it, plus I have a bad habit of exploring after I sneak out of work.

My drawer system is always packed with: first aid kit (combat lifesaver pack + OTC meds), basic food & water, basic recovery, diesel fuel filter, belt, spare bulbs & fuses, candles & fire, OBD II cable, and small tool roll.
