    Stew.

You need better deer, the ones up where I live are great tasting. The ones down south that eat sage brush have a really heavy sage taste.

    Stew.

Yes I have but I don't have kangaroo or ostrich nearby that I can hunt like I do elk.

Might as well put in a new radiator cap to go along with the new thermostat.

    Changing fluids

Well since the truck is "new" to you I would change all the fluids, new quality filters, maybe new spark plugs and check the lights, wiper blades, shocks, belts, hoses and batteries. That way you know it's all been done and things are good to go. For me that's piece of mind.

Distance between home and the start of a trail

I'm lucky enough to be able to do the same thing, I live 40 miles south of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Two miles from my house I can be on a 2-track and with in 12 miles (25 minutes) I can be camping and enjoying life in peace and quiet. I've been 2 miles from the start of a trail to 3 days...

    Spices what do you carry

    propane tanks

I see your point and understand your reasoning. For the trailer I'm building and where the tank will go I'll have to cut and redo the mounting tabs from vertical to horizontal then weld it in.

    Portable Grill Recommendations

Since I'm not very concerned about weight and size anymore I picked this grill up a couple of years ago. It's a Members Mark 2 burner from Sams Club, it was the end of "the season", the last one in the store and the box had a huge dent and hole in it. They were originally marked $100 but the...

Cast Iron or No? (weight right now is not an issue for me)

I bring depending on how long, where and who I'm camping with 2 cast iron skillets, at least 1 dutch oven and my "breakfast skillet". ;))
