I live and camp in coyote, bear, and cougar country. I have never beem bothered. The wife says I snore like a freight train, so thay might have something to do with it.
But if a bear or cougar want to get to you no tent is going to stop them.
I kind of need to upgrade my suspension. The leaf springs are 23 years old and starting to sag. Any load in the hatch causes it to sag too far. A set of Ironman 4x4 leaf springs that are heavier duty are the same price as factory replacements so it makes sense. So it will end up with a 1.5-2.0"...
First you cut out a piece of steel to fill the hole in the middle.
The you sand off as much as the surface junk as you can.
Then you use a borrowed, under-powered 115V stick welder to cram as many 6013 rods as you can in there. Immediately grind everything as smooth as possible without...
Overwatering, aka sailing, is another thing I fell in love with after moving to the PNW from Texas. The ultimate goal is to retire on a boat and take off. But we have 13+ years before that happens. So for now we will travel by land and keep homebase in a great school district.
The 3.7 and 4.7 liters are much more prone to cracking heads and dropping valves than the Hemis. But it only happens when they have been overheated. Most common cause is a leak from the upper coolant passage o-ring on the timing cover. You can't see the leak from the top and from the bottom it...
What you described is a faulty release/throwout bearing. The transmission needs to be removed to change it. While you are in there it is recommended to replace the clutch disc and pressure plate. I always recommend the flywheel be removed and machined or replaced if it has excessive blueing...
One thing I didn't mention is that I got this Montero Sport for free. Including taxes, maintenance, and repairs I am in to the thing $385. That includes timing belt/water pump, tune up, starter, front brakes/bearing pack. The valve guides were repaced under the original warranty. So i am already...
Wow. I am genuinely surprised at how inexpensive a lot of these parts are. There seems to be a lot of redundancy as well with bearing sizes, u-joints, etc.
Are there any common catastrophic engine failures? I have seen some listed for sale with misfires that can't be sorted out or timing chain...
I am a tinkerer by trade and choice. Nothing I own is left stock.
But seriosuly, why did i have to get in to sailing? I need to replace the thru-hulls which is going to cost $1200 for bronze parts.
