I can't find a picture at the moment but i converted an old .50 cal ammo can in to a little wood stove. A small bundle of hardwood will keep that thing simmering for a long time. Coupled with a shelter made from a couple shelter half ponchos and you can stay warm in some ridiculous temps.
Those window visors are gonna play hell with your windows for bit but will eventually wear in. You will roll them up and they will contact the visor, stop, and roll down an inch. Nothing is wrong. The vehicle thinks someone has their fingers in there.
The problem I see with so many RTT's is they stop you from using your roof rack for anything else. Not a big deal in full size rigs where there is a bunch of interior volume. If you are hauling a fmily in a mid-size rig then space while moving is at a premium. I am less worried about set-up time...
We go exploring all the time and rarely leave Whatcom County! These pics are the past month or so.
I currently have ViewRanger for navigation as a holdover from dirt biking but will be switching to Gaia soon.
I prefer the color of halogens. My mother and I both have a sensitivity to blue lights. The bluer the light, the less we can see detail. Blue Christmas lights are almost painful to look at.
When it comes time for sliders i am straight up going to buy a Harbor Freight pipe bender and hodge podge some together with 1.25" schedule 40 steel pipe. But my Montero is a feather weight compared to these trucks.
"Flipping the axle" is just a term used meaning that you are going from spring under to spring over. People "flip the axles" in trucks all the time for lifts. If you literally flipped the axle you would go backwards while in drive. You have to weld new perches to the top of the axle tubes.
But...
That is awesome! I have to move my tool box and all my tools across town this weekend but if i find a few spare minutes I am going to put one of those together. Hang your hammock anywhere and use your vehicle as a wind block.
The factory trailer wiring CAN NOT HANDLE 20+ AMPS SUSTAINED. You will burn it up. It is integrated in to the main chassis harness. It will cost several thousand dollars to replace. I know this because I have replaced one.
Run comoletely separate leads rated for the load, be happy.
